Re: [Log: Gym-to-be, Marta and Holly]
Yeah, that wasn't quite going to cut it. Marta was trying to do better by her friends when and where she could. An while she knew that there were plenty of times when pushing wasn't going to help anything, she was going to at least try to open a door. Especially since she knew so little about what had happened to Holly other than some sort of accident on the job, and maybe she wanted to try to be a better friend than that.
And the frustration? It wasn't his fault. Sure, it had to do with him in the moment, but the frustration was at herself and her ongoing issue with communicating. It was frustration that even with all the things she was trying to fix, this one was still haunting her, and likely would for a while. Maybe forever. There was absolutely no thought in her mind about Holly sucking at people, or this situation in particular.
Though yeah, the Juul made her a little uneasy in the moment, the way Holly was hitting it almost desperately. She shifted her gaze down to the table until she could see him shift out of the corner of her eye, and then she looked back up again. She took a second to brush a little section of her hair back behind one ear, and then moved her hands to her lap so she could clench her hands into tight fists, her nails digging in to give her something to focus on. That and the fact that she thought Holly didn't seem cool, even if his voice was under control.
But it was hard to forget her conversation with Jamie. And the comment about assuming things, about not knowing people. And even though she considered Holly her friend, she really didn't know much about him at all. So she stopped. She was quiet for a moment as she looked at him. And when she finally started talking again, it wasn't anything about him - though now talking just about herself didn't seem exactly right either. It was a bad place to leave a conversation though, so she pressed her nails harder into her palm and tried to keep her explanation short.
