Re: Living Room: Hannah & David
Hannah waited until David had put the treats on the table, alongside the other delicacies, and then she gave him a smile that was warmth and a fuzzy lack of focus. "I don't really," she said of fitting. "This is normal," she said, and maybe that explained it all. Around them, people mingled in the glow of lights and good conversation, but this wasn't her world. She knew it wasn't David's world, either, but she still thought it was a good thing to bring him here, to cause him to walk among the living and remember life.
Hannah didn't believe David was dead, but she did believe Molly's death and whatever happened that night had left him in shadows.
"I think I fit somewhere darker, but with golden lights flickering and good conversation," she said easily. "Can you imagine this? Living like this?" she asked David, or maybe she should ask him something different: "Did you? You and Molly, did you live like this?" She'd never gone to see her sister while Molly and David lived together, and that wasn't out of some lack of desire to visit. It was because hiding her own life would've been hard, and Marcus would never have let her go alone. Maybe their lives had been like this place, with it's warm glow and friendly faces gathered.
