Re: Haven / Friday: After the Train
The way Derek moved between the trees made Marta smile - it was like the woman almost wasn't touching the ground at certain points. For a fleeting second, she wondered if that was something else Derek could do... would it really be that far-fetched, with everything else that happened in this town? With everything else she'd seen?
Marta had always been a city girl, up until she'd taken the bus to the end of the line and remained in Repose. Even then, it didn't change who she was, or how she grew up. Drop her in the middle of a city, and she'd be able to find her way better than if dropped in the middle of a forest or field. And the last time she'd ever seen any sort of wild animal was in a zoo - and that had been a field trip when she was still in elementary school. Lip had stolen some money out of their mom's purse and forged the permission slip for her to go. She'd repaid him by telling him about all the animals she could remember.
Though she'd shaken her head at the question about the foxes, she looked up when Derek mentioned eagles. Seeing those things out in the forest seemed like an impossibility at the moment. Even stranger, somehow, than shapeshifting people - maybe because one she'd never seen, and one was holding her hand as they looped around the trees.
"A brother?" She hadn't known that Derek had any siblings, and that one would be right in Repose was a surprise. Though, on the other hand, where else would he be? With the way the town worked, she half-expected to see Lip more days than not.
