Re: Live and Breathe: Derek and Marta
Uncertainty, the lack of confidence, was a palpable thing with Marta, and for all that Marta didn't have, Derek had in spades. She did't worry about these little things, and it took her glancing back at their single patron to shake her head, hair swishing down her back, bright grin still in place. Today's lipstick was coral, to contrast with the white of her suit.
"No, she's early. I told her she could come." She waved her hand through the air, fingertips wiggling. "She comes before her college courses." So studious. Derek herself preferred magazines, something to flip through rather than pages and pages of the written word. But -- college was so important to some people now that she she rarely spoke against it, and she'd managed to mostly not make a face whenever lectures were mentioned. They never got the smile she wore now, as she stood and held her arms out to Marta.
"But you aren't late. Come." She nodded to the girl currently hooked up to oxygen. "Juts unplug when you're done!" Derek called, intent on taking Marta back to get her cupcake on.
