He leaned back in the chair a little. His eyes had cleared entirely, and he seemed a little tired from the effort. "Sue used to run it," he said, glancing up at Ren. "I didn't know it, but he would run it out. Let it loose, let it be rampant and spend itself. It feeds on negative energy, they say, so I suppose that would burn it out for a little while." He shook his head. "What happened in the woods was the quiet version. When it really runs, it's bigger. Much bigger."
Adrian had given up on his tea, and he watched Ren as he talked. "I think that's true," he said, quietly. "I feel tired," he said. "Not bad tired, really. Just a little more tired than I was.
