Re: log: adrian and ren - in the cottage
Ren nodded. The loathing had been pretty clear, in all honesty. And Ren might not be dealing with any piece of his life that was that fractured, but at the same time he'd definitely fallen victim to self-loathing. "I think, sometimes, we aren't who we think we are. Or we don't come across the way we think to people. I'm pretty certain that's pretty typical for everyone. So. Yeah." More or less. It wasn't the same exactly, but the notion? That wasn't something that nobody else had ever dealt with either. "I don't know, but maybe accept that he's gonna do things different than you and you're not gonna like that. And you're gonna do things different than him and he's not gonna like that. That's ok. Don't have to like it, just accept it for now." He squeezed those fingers back.
"Alright, so here's the thing," Ren chewed on his lip for a moment. "You said you could feel the Obscurus? Do you feel... I don't know how to put this, so maybe I'll just start on the other side. Magic, for me, it's very much me feeling the energy between things. Like," he pulled his hand back from the mug and without any words or using his hand he lifted it so that it hung in the air about six inches up, and then he sat it back down, gently enough that it didn't splash over the side. "That's just, me being able to feel that energy between those things. That's how my magic works, but I don't know how yours does. But you said you could feel the Obscurus? Do you feel other things, or sense them?"
The case was obviously a protective place, so they could work here, but Ren half wondered if they could go somewhere else... one of the caves he and his Uncle had been in, maybe. Something... That would be a future thing, something he could work on, where if Adrian was destructive it wouldn't matter so much, because the population was minimum. Like their night in the forest.
"I think it can be." Maybe that was too strong, maybe he ought to have said he hoped it could be, but Ren didn't think this was pointless or useless or impossible. He thought it was something that could be unraveled, with persistence. It just required time, and commitment to doing it.
