His gaze roved across the wall, eventually fixating somewhere at the back of the room. "I suppose so," he said. "Sue doesn't have that problem, though." There was a whiff of venom in that. "He does what he likes. He gets angry. But he can control it. He does it very well. So that isn't the only thing, it just makes it worse."
Adrian looked at Ren's hand, then finally set the mug down and took it with his own. His hands were soft and dry, fingertips cool and light. "You have seen me," he said, with a faint smile, even as something curled in his gut. The idea that the obscurus might hurt someone he card about - now there was a deep, dark, strongly felt fear.
"I want to learn magic," he said. "All my life, it's been the thing I wanted most, but couldn't have. If I can just do it now...I think everything will be all right. I hope," he said, correcting, "Everything will be all right."
