Re: log: adrian and ren - in the cottage
Reprehensible. He lingered on that thought a little, lingered on the word. It faded, slowly but surely, as Ren reassured him that there was a plan. He just needed to know that, to feel sure. He needed a way out.
He sat down at the table with care, pulling his chair in, pulling his tea close on the table, hands wrapped around the mug. He rubbed his nose with the back of his fingers. Ren's smile warmed him, and the ghost of his touch was a nice balm. He felt very small inside, very vulnerable. Nothing could have pissed Sue off more, who, somewhere inside his head, was cringing at the sheer sappy embarassment of it.
Adrian took a breath, and he took a sip of his tea. "The obscurus," he said. "We should start there. Sue is - he's not likely to go anywhere until that's solved. I'm not likely to go anywhere," he said, slowly. He hated thinking it, or admitting it, but it was true, and pretending it wasn't wouldn't help anything. He and Sue were very much the same. He had railed at Newt for only being with him when he was dissociating, but there was much about him now that was different from the person he was without Sue split off from him. He was less than the whole too.
