Re: Recovery Center: Travis & Marta
When Travis first saw Marta sitting with the tablet in her lap, it was from a distance. It wasn't until getting much closer, close enough to see the blurred lines of so much black typeface against white background that Travis realized she'd been reading. It made him recall that time they'd drove around and talked about libraries. "What are you reading?" He took the offered seat beside her on the couch when Marta drew her feet in.
He thought she looked... well, not that great, admittedly. Then again, he didn't think that anybody was supposed to look good while in residence at a rehab, recovering from a seizure that could have really likely killed them. The last time he'd seen Marta, she'd been living her life in the outside world. He could tell that there was some hesitation with her speaking, but he knew that improvement came with time and therapy. When she smiled at him then, so warm and genuine, Travis took back that initial thought that she wasn't looking so good. The smile made him think that Marta looked great, healthy even.
Travis knew that she was going to have difficulties with holding a conversation, but he wanted to talk to her. Maybe it would even be a good thing. "What are your days like here? Are your doctors cool? Did you make any, uh, friends?"
