"You seem to have grown out of it," she smiled. He was still lean, but definitely more the man than she'd remembered him as a boy. Of course that happened, she supposed, and sometimes it still took her off guard when it did.
"It was either sell mother's shop or come back and run it myself," she told him matter-of-fact. "And considering that I'd decided that I had all that I could have of my husband, it seemed like as good a time as any to come back," she shrugged. "So I spent some weeks on the shop, cleaning it up and prepping things, and then I added my own line of jewelry and lotions that I'd been selling on Etsy to it, and I just dropped some potions here," she tilted her head to the shop. "Mostly I've been so busy getting things together with the shop that I haven't walked around much beyond the bookstore and coffeeshop. I should change that obviously."
She accepted the condolences with a nod, and a brief smile. "She'll be missed, but she had a good long life, and the illness didn't linger, which I think we were both grateful for. It was the best of a bad situation." She nodded down the walk. "If there's still a coffee shop down there I'll buy you one if you've the time?"
