"It was a fairly good size Yacht," Hugh laughed. His friend's family's main home was on Lake Washington, and this had been the smaller of their yachts, which had always felt like the most ridiculously rich people he knew until he'd met his biological father. "And we weren't so close, so it wasn't too terrifying."
"They are small steps, or giant ones, and yes, you're right I have. But this summer is the first I've been back in theatre for the entire year I've been here. I spent most of the time between last August, and around April or May of this year largely not really seeing people. At the time it felt necessary, but I don't think it was good for me," he admitted truthfully. "In fact, possibly the opposite. This house is huge, and I got lonely, and -" he paused. He'd tried to fill it all up with someone and that hadn't worked. He stood, and walked towards the bar cart and poured himself a small measure of bourbon. "I think that it was good for a few months, but I should have gotten back into theatre sooner."
He stepped back towards the sofa, sat down again as he took a long sip. "I've been in movies, really just one of any note," he turned the glass around in his hand, and his gaze flickered back up to Theodore. At least he knew he hadn't been Googled, because the IMDB would have shown up, and with it all the other things. "The last thing I did before I moved here was a film, a mystery, based on a true crime book. And it was a big film, big names - at least in the lead, filmed near Seattle, and I was ecstatic to get a role in it, and so most of my film knowledge comes from that."
After a beat he drew a deep breath, and then blew it out. "You know, if you Google my name, you'll discover any of this, so you might as well know, the lead actress was murdered during the filming, and the lead actor was arrested for it, and I spent most of the year between that job, and moving here, involved in a murder trial. And I mean actually on trial. I didn't murder anyone, but I was ambitious and I did some things I regret now and those all came out. And there was a lot of publicity around it, especially in Seattle, and I wanted to hide. So." He stopped, always half wondering if people would walk out the door. But if he was going to maybe it would be better if he did now, before... His gaze flickered back up to Theodore. "It's always - I never know when to tell people, or if they already know, because it's very easy to find if you go looking, but it was obscure enough that not everyone knows."
