Re: [Diner: Aleksi, Hannah, Si]
Si was late. Of course he was. He was mussed and soft-faced in a way that looked like he'd just woken up from a nap. Which was close enough. He walked from Hookerville in the heat on cruddy sneakers—it wasn't that long of a walk—, but he was unwilling to give up long sleeves. What he was wearing was of little significance otherwise. He was unshaven and hollow-eyed, and he ducked into the diner on the bad side of town. He looked like he belonged here, among the riffraff and those down on their luck. He didn't think much about it. From the door, he saw the back of Amy's head, her long hair, damp. Across from her was a man with dark hair and a sharp nose smiling warmly.
Si sighed. He maneuvered through the space. It felt huge after the confines of his trailer. As he came up toward the booth, he lifted his hand in greeting at ...Rabbit. Si wasn't sure what he was supposed to call him. "Hey," was what he started with, his voice rough and low. He slid into the booth beside Amy, taking up a lot of space as he lifted his arm up and over her shoulder. She was sitting in the seat with her knees up, folded in and cradling her coffee. He smiled at her. "Hey." He reached for the menu she'd had and plucked it away, just to be annoying and so he could read it.
Before he got into it though, with the menu in the hand of the arm around Hannah, and with the menu deliberately held in front of her face, he reached his free hand out to Rabbit. "I'm Si." If the man took it and they shook, Si continued: "Uh, do you go by Rabbit or...?"
