Re: [Dream Training]
Arthur reacted to Eames’ smile with an immediate recoil, pulling his shoulders back and his chin down. He didn’t break the eye contact, that would have been too much of a surrender, but his mouth flattened into a line and he looked annoyed. He did not bother replying to the shot over his bow, and instead stood away from the cot to make sure the PASIV was off. At the mention of the woman’s name Arthur immediately crossed the room with his gaze.
For his part, Arthur was sure that something was going to go odd, what with Hannah not being human, but he didn’t know exactly what. He didn’t want to go in with preconceptions and that was one of the primary reasons he put Eames in there. Also it was safer for him, since he wasn’t Eames. Her name made Arthur abruptly concerned that maybe the something that had gone wrong was Hannah herself. If she never woke up that would end up being his problem. But her eyes fluttered not a few moments later, and she was awake along with Eames.
Arthur started taking the needles and tubing back, using as much care as a trained EMT. His voice was business-like but casual. “I’m told Eames is scared a lot.” Not looking at him. “There’s never scratch. There’s always something you create. If you don’t create it consciously, you’ll create it subconsciously. Training and practice, along with the chemical, gives you the ability to architect. What did you do that was scary, if you don’t mind me asking?”
