Who: Alex White, Holly Webster, Billy Kaufman
What: Sale! Sass!(?)
Where: Repose Comic Shop
When: Wednesday June 12
Warnings/Rating: Probably pretty tame.
The Repose comic shop (just the comic shop - Alex didn't think it actually had a name) was one of those places that looked tiny on the outside but was somehow enormous inside. It was cluttered with shelves, random doorways and alcoves, and packed to the brim with shelving. Overflowing boxes of random singles littered pretty much every available flat surface, racks held a variety of more popular series, and the one long unbroken wall at the back of the shop was packed with bound graphic novels and a collection of manga, as well as a few D&D novelizations and other assorted material. There was also an array of merchandise for nerds of every stripe, from vintage Star Wars poster reproductions to dice sets to board games to action figures. Of course, any of the really expensive, collectible stuff was kept behind the front counter and the register.
Generally, it was a pretty chill place. Alex was surprised at how much he found he liked working there. But as the day began, he was feeling a little apprehensive about how much attention his post in the forums had attracted. He wasn't used to the attention so much, and he wasn't expecting such a response. Wednesdays were usually kind of sleepy but now, well, who knew?
Even so, it was still pretty quiet, and Alex was rocked back on two legs of a chair behind the registers, ratty sneakers kicked up on the counter, swallowed up in his green hoodie like usual, despite the heat, his thumbs poking through holes in the cuffs and his wild mess of blond hair stuffed under the hood. His boss didn't care, he wasn't one of those "if you have time to lean you have time to clean" assholes. Not that Alex had ever known any of those types, as this was his first "real" job. He was really starting to hope it offered him some sort of future. Small hope - it was a comic shop - but that was better than none.
