"It's good to meet, you Raleigh." The hand offered was confident, and for a moment at least, some of the reason why he was here slid back to the back of his mind. In the past year or two, in all the times he'd been hiding, he'd maybe forgotten that people were interesting and that he liked spending time with them more than he liked hiding from them. And Hugh had no idea what he'd been expecting but Tanzania had not been it, and the surprise showed in the raise of an eyebrow, and a more intent glance of curiosity.
"Newish," Hugh offered with a smile. "I've been here not quite a year now, but I spent a lot of those early months just trying to work and not doing much socializing." That was the easy way to put it, and it sounded better than 'I was afraid of being recognized from a murder trial'. That truth was out there and people could find it if they wanted to, but Hugh wasn't going to lead them to it, anymore than he was going to fear them finding it anymore.
He lifted the cup to his lips, taking a sip, but slowly, suddenly not quite in as much hurry to get home as he'd been a few minutes previously. Assuming that Raleigh wanted to talk, and even the interest in asking the question, in chasing down that path, was new and yet also really familiar. Familiar in ways that felt like slipping on a favorite shirt. "Tanzania is a long way from Repose. Why Tanzania?"
