Re: Under the lights: Tandy/Mars
Honestly, and in the fairness of total disclosure, Mars was usually mad about one thing or another. Irritation might as well have been her default setting, even if she hadn't suddenly been dripping with a freshly spilled strawberita mango wine cooler poured down the front of her outfit. That elbow really came out of nowhere in the sense that Mars hadn't even noticed the guy until he'd knocked into her. It was a chain reaction after that, his elbow into her cup of fruity liquor, fruity liquor into the once-white fabric of her ruffled sundress.
The damage was immediate. It had a splatter effect across the bodice of white ruffles, looking all the world like the aftermath of when a strawberry meets a shotgun. The drink, while floating with ice cubes in its Solo cup, had been fairly cold, which accounted for the startled squeak that Mars made. Although in seeing what was done to her dress, the red drip-dripping down her leg and onto the baby pink of her pedicure, that squeak transitioned into a significantly more venomous hiss. She felt suspended momentarily in a time-stopping state of disbelief. When that abated, she stared doe-eyed daggers at her attacker, who was already apologizing. "What is your malfunction?!"
She could have stamped her feet or screamed her head off, and Mars sort of looked like she wanted to do a bit of both. But she didn't, she settled for pitching the empty plastic cup, totally useless and harmless despite her highest hopes, at the guy's chest. She'd actually been instinctively aiming for the somebody's face, but had misjudged because of the freakishly tall factor he had going for him. She wasn't the best judge of height or anything, but she was in flats and the guy sort of towered. So the cup hit him in the chest instead, but the drama queen narrowing of Mars' eyes pretty much conveyed that she wished that cup had been a knife.
Mars had a very all-or-nothing approach to things. Things were good or bad, high or low. Now that this tragic misstep had occurred, her entire night was ruined. Hell, maybe even her entire life.
