Mao did not need anything to drink at the moment, so he gave his head a little shake and flicked his ears at each offer. If there’s one thing a cat likes best after a good meal it’s a nap, and it seemed Mao was no different. He was full and content, and Vaughn’s inclination to bestow him with attention and petting added to the warm, calm feeling coming over him. Though his demon batteries were full, he was now too sleepy to switch yet again into his other form. Going back and forth repeatedly seemed a waste of the energy he just gained from his meal. Mao preferred to make it last, just in case Vaughn woke up to reason in the morning.
Mao liked to receive attention just as much as Vaughn liked to give it. Usually it was negative attention, so all of this was a very pleasant change of pace. He wasn’t ready to give it up just yet, so of course he followed when Vaughn headed to the living room.
Hopping up onto the sofa, Mao curled up on the seat beside Vaughn. He had considered getting right into his lap, but the human part of him held him back. Instead, he settled so that he was leaning against Vaughn’s thigh. It was the perfect spot to get more pets and maybe even beg a sample of his chicken dinner, as well as watch TV. In this moment, he was pretty much living the dream.
