Vaughn hated how incredibly fond he was of this annoying little beast after barely any time at all. For no reason at all. That stupid smile tugged at his heart. For God's sake.
It made more sense to Vaughn that the demon cat would want to eat more often than not, from what he knew of demon creatures. They did tend to hunt and eat a lot, that's why they were usually so problematic. So he was going to have to find some way to feed the cat without looking too suspicious about it and getting them both in trouble.
Vaughn had tried not to watch his new buddy chowing down on his offal, but he couldn't help but turn when the cat looked up. Surprised. That was definitely a look of surprise. Okay, maybe not everyone would be keen to risk their job and probably a prison sentence to feed a stray demon on more than one occasion, but that he was sitting here, chillin', whilst Kitty ate should be some indication that Vaughn was a few chips short of a meal.
What he didn't expect was a hug. What he really didn't expect was to like it as much as he did.
"You're welcome. I know it's not that conventional," Vaughn said softly, lifting his hand to pet the cat's heat, scritching around his ears. "When you're back in talking mode let me know what you need, yeah? Or you can just turn up and let me know that way- I live out in Repose, not the city, which might be too far for you to walk." He was still petting the cat on his shoulder, because there was no way to get him back to Repose without it being weird. Was this weird already? "So just- find a way to let me know you need some food or something? And I'll see what I can do."
