Thankfully, Dietre took over explaining ‘everything’, as requested. Aleksi wasn’t sure he could have made the story so concise, and he probably wouldn’t have said something ill-advised about his own state of being during that first interaction. So it was probably for the best that he hadn’t been the one to tell that story.
He squeezed Dietre’s fingers gently where they were still tangled together with his own under the table when he saw the blush forming on his pale cheeks. Looking back over at Pippin as she commented, Aleksi said, “I am certainly appreciative of her acceptance. And her enthusiasm.” He was as fiercely protective of Sieglinde as he was of Dietre - perhaps even more so, some days.
He smiled softly in the younger man’s direction for a moment, since he was certain it was Dietre’s happiness that Pippin was pleased about, and Aleksi was just glad to be part of the reason for said happiness. “How long have you been in town?” he asked Pippin, not wanting another awkward pause to creep up on them, while feeling as though the questions wasn’t too intrusive.
