The one major thing Josh had learned about Luke so far, was the fact that he tended to flirt with his customers. He could never hear from far away what the man had to say but it was all in his body language. That was something Josh had never got the hang of, flirting with others and it was hard when you couldn't hear appropriately anyway. He usually sent the wrong signals or made people think he was fucking with them in one way or the other. Never good for his self-esteem when they told him to leave them alone or get lost.
Yeah, he was shy, he knew that but he didn't think he was that bad looking. He figured he could coast on his looks sometimes for his awkwardness and fumbles, but life never worked out that way. He swallowed another drink of his cap, and relished in the taste, eyes closed for one brief moment. He didn't know who made his drinks, as people were always moving up behind the counter and obscuring his vision but his cups were never wrong, always perfect, with great taste. He figured even if Luke didn't work here, he'd come in for this alone.
As he continued looking at at the oblivious man, he realized he was suddenly coming his way with a saucer and he blinked, looking down quickly with his cheeks slightly tinging pink. It was embarrassing, a little too embarrassing and he figured the man was about to take that order somewhere else when he saw the saucer being put down beside his laptop.
He looked up, blinking owlishly and furrowed his brow. His face heated up, but he doubted he was full on blushing as he grew out of that once he got older but the wink Luke gave him, made his heart constrict and give one steady pound like a drum. He couldn't breathe for a moment, dumbstruck and then he was walking away like he hadn't just given him free food... he looked over at the plate and realized it was a decadent dessert, that looked, well, looked right down delicious.
He wasn't sure what that was supposed to mean. Luke was probably just trying to be nice, he was nice to everyone and that included Josh, despite the fact that stalking might get him a restraining order and a punch in the face if he were ever caught. Then he probably wouldn't be so nice to him at all. His heart continued to pound in his chest, making him aware as he watched Luke. Fuck... Fuck, did he have some kind of extra sensory where he knew Josh was watching him? Was this what the dessert was about?
He was afraid to even eat it. Like if he did, it meant Luke might figure him out. And if he didn't, he'd look like an asshole rejecting someone's double sweet offer. He decided then, to push his laptop a little to the side and bring the plate forward, picking up the fork it came with. He tentatively cut into it, it went smoothly and then he took the bite. It melted in his mouth and he gave a slight sound of surprise. The only time he really indulged in sweets was around holidays that had after day candy sales. Sure, he had the occasional sweet now and again but it wasn't great for his workout routine.
Eitherway, he'd give up an arm and a leg to eat this everyday if he could, which had him going back for a second bite. He smiled around it softly, his heart evening out as he glanced at Luke for a moment and then back down at the plate.
