Re: sushi-time: adrian, patrick, lou
"Man, you order sashimi. No white rice. Or are you a California Roll type of dude?" Patrick asked his bro. He sat comfortably, wide legs and no concern for the past. Look, he had felt a grand amount of guilt at the beginning of things with Newt, but Patrick found that time really did chill all wounds. He was still sorry for his bro's loss, but he was not uncomfortable around him. With Con gone, Adrian was all the family the dude had left. This mattered, man. It helped that Newt was much more chill about Adrian these days, and the friction was (as far as Patrick knew) lessened.
As for Lou, man, Lou was a stranger, but Patrick was a social dude (and she had a blood connection to Adrian to recommend her), and he was most willing to adopt her into the family. One could never have enough family in Patrick's opinion, and blame this on the fact that the dude had only possessed one too-young sis while growing up. Con had tried most hard, but she was a victim of their massively unhealthy upbringing as much as he was, if not more so.
He watched Lou tease Adrian about mountains, and he felt most hopeful. Hopeful was, as a rule, Patrick's default about a great many matters. He worried more than your average dude, but he was no pessimist. "Man, I do not need to be shown how to drink saki. You think I am ten, man, but I will take a golden beer. Whatever is good," he said, and he slung an arm comfortably behind his bro's chair. He was relaxed, man. So far, 2019 was treating Patrick well, man, knock on wood.
