Re: Visiting the Hospital
Louis checked on Daniel periodically. He wasn't wholly aware that he was doing it, but he was, glancing to the left to see that he was still alright as he trailed along in his shadow. He saw Daniel searching for something with his eyes, but without knowing what, he couldn't know what he might want that would help. He leaned a little nearer to him, just in case. This wouldn't take long, and surely Daniel wouldn't have opted to come along if he couldn't bear to be any deeper in the hospital.
Whenever he was sure Daniel was alright, his attention turned back to Cris. He swiveled between them as he tracked the mood of the two diametrically opposed men he was standing between, both of whom he cared about, neither of whom, he knew, liked each other all that much.
His own alarm bells went off too when Cris pointed out they'd need to go in one at a time, and he glanced to Daniel again. "Of course," he said, because it did make sense, and he saw the sense in it, even as he was processing all the things he didn't like about it. The need for scrubs, and what that said about Joey's state. Daniel standing alone in the waiting room.
In a way, though, that all dropped away when he was actually standing at the observation window, looking at the little box in the back with her name in little letters on the side. He couldn't even see her, and he still smiled without thinking. It was a relief even seeing that little label.
"Daniel," Louis said, "Why don't you go?" That way, at least, he could go back down to the lobby sooner if he felt he needed to. "Cris, if you tell me where Sam's room is, I can drop the food off and come back."
