Re: Dinner: Athelstan and Ragnar
"I do," Ragnar said with a smile. "It doesn't...you don't feel odd that I named my dog after you? And now I have the real Athelstan I do not wish to give up my little furry version. I love you both a lot."
The desire to hold Athelstan to him was strong as ever, to hold him and make sure he knew he was safe, and he was home if he wanted that. "You are unique. But then I never knew any of my people to kidnap someone and take them into their home. And you did it so well. I was always so proud of you."
Oh, and at his core, Ragnar was a provider. He was pleased with Athelstan's acceptance and enjoyment of his chocolate. "I wish you did, too," he said softly. "Some idea of what you might- if what you had didn't please you." Ragnar had no desire to linger on this topic, no desire to make Athelstan uncomfortable. "I will make you something with honey next time...Connor."
He thought he should try Athelstan's new name. Perhaps he would prefer that and was too polite to say. It would take some getting used to, but it wasn't too hard for Ragnar to imagine moaning...uh, saying Connor frequently.
