Ragnar smiled, rolled his eyes, but there was a warmth in his chest thinking about his wife. She was always his wife, always the one he spoke of when he said he'd been married.
"You were always my family, you know that, don't you? You were always more than a slave. I know everyone else thought of you as just that, but you were my family. You are my family," Ragnar said earnestly.
He liked the thought of traveling with Athelstan. His previous trips had only been for work, it had never been for his own entertainment. But they could have fun, they could have an interesting time together. He could take Athelstan to places he had seen change over the last millennium.
"We shall go somewhere for a holiday when the world is a little warmer," he said softly, happily, sitting back at the table, resuming their knees resting against each other, their closeness.
