Ragnar took the number. He would call. Of course he would call.
His attention rested fully on Athelstan again, though, intense and serious. Because he deceived Athelstan, not because he was a man. Ragnar didn't really know what to do with that information, but he didn't have time to unpack it right now.
Ragnar drew in a deep breath. There was anger rising up in him, directed at a man he was sure he would never find. "He wore my face?" that wasn't something he could entirely fathom, either. Because he had meant something to Athelstan? Because he thought that Athelstan would desire him with Ragnar's face?
"And you trust that I am me? You do not believe that I am wearing a face?" he asked, even though that wasn't the question he wanted to go for first. His hand gripped Athelstan's, "I will not to anything to deceive you. I will not force anything onto you. I have missed you so much."
