Re: [In between: Sif and Hel]
If breaking the cycle failed, it would be because Hel chose for it to fail. She was willing to entertain the possibility that life among humans would become too tedious for her, and perhaps her own demesne would seem a blessing then. Admittedly, her recent dealings with humanity had left her dreadfully bored by the whole business, and her interactions with her own kind had hardly been better. Perhaps it would be indulgent to allow herself Hades' mad adoration, but she'd simply never felt that level of interest in anyone. Shame, really. She was considering taking it on, just for something to entertain herself with.
"Dearest, you enjoy your area of expertise, and I enjoy mine." Oh, it was true that she'd currently no desire to rule, but she still enjoyed the powers and benefits of her standing. "I applaud those who seek satisfaction outside themselves. It's rather an impressive risk, if dull, for one's satiation to depend entirely on others one cannot control." This was how Hel saw parenthood and marriage. Hel quite liked being in control.
She had no doubt that Sif would fight to the death to protect what was hers. This was the story of women throughout history, and they were no different. Sif would protect her family unto death, and Hel would protect herself and her realm, and her brothers would stand beside her. This was their fate, and she saw no reason not to enjoy a smoke with someone who was willing to sacrifice in order to win. Fuck the hierarchy and their beliefs about who was born to enmity.
Another pull was drawn upon the pipe. "I don't wander often, but it does get quite boring around here, and one does as one must. Tell me, how does it work? I've met trapped gods in human bodies while here, and it sounds horrific. Is it like that for him, and would it be like that for you?"
