Re: Boat dreams: Athelstan/Ragnar
That earned a little nudge of Athelstan's shoulder into Ragnar's. "Do you think I put conditions on it?" He had never insisted that Ragnar be one way, to accept his God, to give up his own, to rescue him -- nothing was demanded of Ragnar. The only thing he wished for was a spot at his side, and one that he desperately wanted to take back again.
He grinned. "Another home by the lake." There was no surprise there, and perhaps he was the only other living being to remember Ragnar and Lagertha's farm by the lake. "I hope you've learned how to swim by now," he teased gently. "Would you like it if I came to find you there? Would you want me to?"
He shook his head, not believing that Ragnar had fallen out of favor with his Gods. "How do you know? How do you know they are not keeping you here because there is still something you have yet to experience?" There were plenty of days, and weeks, and months when he craved going home to his God, but it was only that little piece of knowledge that kept him going. What if this was what they were meant to do?
