It took a moment for it to really click what had just happened. Like your vision going dark, and you're not quite certain that it did - the ability to sense the other man in the room simply shifted. Normally Ren could, a low level pulse awareness of other life around him, and it wasn't something he thought about, or even considered as being something that other people didn't have as much as he knew that it was true that they didn't. Thus it took a moment for the awareness to kick in that it was gone.
At the counter he stopped, fingers twitching towards a bar cloth about a meter away, and nothing happened. It didn't move, didn't twitch, and Ren's eyes narrowed.
Maybe he didn't always love having the magical powers that he had. But he didn't much care for them somehow being taken away, and then on top of that was simply the underlying anxiety that suddenly spiked - were they gone for good? Had the stranger altered them permanently in some way? And then on top of that - did he intend Ren harm, and how dangerous was he? Ren wasn't small, he was tall and broad, and fairly fit, so he didn't fear much if he were honest, but someone who could take his abilities from him might have other powers too.
He stepped around the corner of the counter and he approached, steely determination behind his brown eyes. "Can I help you find something?" Books, coffee, or something else, Ren just wanted to know.
