He breathed in, and let the breath out slowly. Now that he'd said it, now that he'd told her, it didn't seem nearly as bad to have said as it had been difficult to say in the first place. "It's a long story," he replied simply. "Maybe not for one tonight, but I'll tell you," he promised. It had been months now, and it was time he talk to someone about it. He let her lead up, and he watched her, the way her hair fell over her shoulders, the way she moved as she walked, and as they walked into the night sky, he wrapped his arms around her for a moment from behind, placing his chin on her shoulders. "What are you going to do this year?" He asked her quietly, as he waited for the first of the fireworks and for someone to step near enough to them with champagne to grab glasses.
