Re: [Webster's Vinyl: Holly & Dietre]
Indeed, one had to hope that wherever Noah was, he wasn’t experiencing the emotional chaos going in in the store right then. Dietre’s gut was twisting this way and that from anxiety, frustration, and a slowly creeping guilt. Alarm bells were going off that he had just caused problems between Noah and Holly, and he dreaded the moment when he’d inevitably be contacted by Noah to explain himself. He’d probably be told to stay out of the man’s life and then he’d have another name to add to the list of friends made and lost within months of knowing them. Just thinking about it made him feel a little sick, and his shoulders began to sag from the weight of all these imagined consequences.
“Daniel…?” Dietre’s thinking was a bit clogged at the moment, he had some difficulty processing this stunning bit of news. “But-- He’s not old enough to have a grandchild your age.” He fell back into staring at Holly, but this time it was in search of signs of family resemblance. He couldn’t quite believe what he’d been told.
“He never mentioned having a family…” This was half murmured to himself, though Dietre shouldn’t have been so surprised. He hadn’t spoken that much with Daniel despite the man’s generosity toward him. To be honest, he didn’t have very deep conversations with any of his so called friends, and there seemed to be none that he spoke to regularly. He didn’t really know much about anyone other than the basics that just about any acquaintance would know. Depressing.
