Re: [Webster's Vinyl: Holly & Dietre]
If there was one thing Dietre hated, it was to be called entitled by someone who didn’t know what they were talking about. He flushed angrily and gave Holly a sour glare. He was just about to get worked up into arguing when the wind was taken from his sails by the sudden realization that Holly thought he wanted to steal Noah. He blinked and opened his mouth to try to explain things but his brain hadn’t quite caught up and nothing came out. He just stood there looking uncomfortable as Holly continued to speak, barely able to listen.
“W-wait--” The records in his hands went from horizontal to vertical, Dietre once again attempting to shield himself. “You’ve got it wrong...”
It was easier to speak when Holly ducked down to rummage in a box. “I’m not going to tell him anything like that. I’m not-- I don’t like him the way you do…” His cheeks were now bright with hot embarrassment. “There’s nothing between us.” Why did denying this make him feel like he sounded guilty? He was sure Holly thought he was lying, but was afraid that saying anything more would only make things worse.
“No, I’ll pay for the records.” He was the picture of confusion as he set them down to take the offered sheet music. Even in his keyed up state his eyes were drawn to the lines of black notes and he could hear the music in his head as they followed them.
