Who: Pippin and Hannah
What: Pippin's First Day
Where: Area 52
When: Day after she arrived (slightly backdated)
Warnings/Rating: I doubt it
It was Pippin's first day at her new internship at Area 52. She wanted to make a good impression which meant she woke up five hours before she had to report to work. It took that long to get her look just right. Mostly right. Acceptable. Ugh. Her hair was pulled back into a neat braid. She wore a nice blouse, slacks and sensible shoes. Her makeup was just enough so she didn't look like the living dead. All of that time to put this together and she still found herself darting out the door to catch a bus.
The transportation that would take her to Area 52 (one did not drive in themselves) was near the public transit station. Pippin was glad for the sensible shoes as she ran to catch the van before it left without her. By the time she got settled in a seat her braid had come loose and she was blushing for being looked at by what she assumed were other employees. After that she looked out the window to watch their progress through town then further to the gates. She was a bit surprised that the windows blackened once they passed through the gates. Oh well. At least she could use her reflection in the glass to fix her hair.
The van came to a stop in an underground car park only there were no other cars or vehicles of any kind. Just an elevator bay that she was directed to by a guy in a black suit. He rattled off some instruction that Pippin only caught about half of then the elevator doors shut and she was on her way. What seemed like a long time later, the doors opened to some kind of official lobby or foyer. Pippin stepped out with a panicked, lost look on her face as she tried to remember which way she was supposed to go. Meanwhile, a security officer took her name, fingerprint, retinal scan and a drop of blood for DNA identification. With the exception of the blood, Pippin was kind of oblivious to the whole proceedings. Otherwise, she would have asked for directions before the officer walked away.
"Get it together, girl. You can do this. It isn't anywhere near as intimidating as walking into that cemetery in Vermont." Pippin chose a direction then walked off. It wasn't long before she was hopelessly lost. She saw a girl up ahead and with a whimper she jogged to catch up with her. "Excuse me! I'm pretty sure this is not where I'm supposed to be."
