|Patrick loved this time of year, man. Everything that came from Halloween onward felt like good times to the dude. Not that he was adverse to summer, and he would be most ready for the heat and that first dip in the river after the thaw, but the end of the year was the time when the dude felt most uplifted. Perhaps this was a young thing, something that illustrated the youth he tried not to flash at people with any regularity, but the dude liked the holidays. This holiday (he hoped) would be an especially good one. Con was back, and he and Adrian were working on things, and (despite being most constantly worried about both of his siblings) he had a good feeling in his bones this season.|
Currently, he was in the Capital.
He had gone to his therapy appointment early that morning, and he had spent most of his time speaking about Halloween. The good thing about a magical therapist, man, was that they found everything normal. It had been a tiring session emotionally, but the dude was getting better about opening up. After, he had gone to the university to register for the NPS law enforcement ranger re-certification class he would be beginning on Monday. This was a regular requirement for all carrying rangers, and he was overdue, man, since he'd just moved to the ranger service from law enforcement without going through the process. He was not adverse to it, though. Things in the woods were in good shape, and fewer campers would be coming through Repose now that the chill was on the ground. It was a good time to get away and train. Too, the homestead was occupied, and Patrick was most tired of staying in the transient ranger cabin, so Newt finding them a place in the Hall Way was a bonus.
Patrick did often worry about the other dude being removed from his magical community so often. He (Patrick) got antsy when he spent an entire week away from Arborlon, and Newt seldom went home (to the magical community), so this was all good, man. This was a good and timely turn of events.
He was to meet Newt in the Hall Way, outside the local watering hole, and he had stopped to acquire a small tree along the way. The dude did not know if wizards did Christmas trees, but Gunsters absolutely did Christmas trees. Ergo, he was standing outside a store window, wearing layers, watching toys interact with each other in a way that muggle (he was learning the lingo) toys did not, Christmas tree clutched in his arms. He would have remained there, losing track of time, but there was commotion from the bookstore down the way, and so the dude hoisted his tree in that direction, where people were gathered outside the window display that was too crowded for him to see what was drawing the crowd.
