Re: Coffee: Archie W/Caleb R
Archie jumped up from his bed at the knock to his door, then remembered he had to be a little bit more composed about it. He had taken heed of what Caleb had said in their comments. They weren't talking about what had almost passed between them at Halloween. Or what it meant about either of them.
He could smell the other man even through the wooden door. Masculine and clean and a little bit smokey. It was a nice scent. And his blood, the warmth of his living body. Archie was glad he'd eaten.
He pulled open the door with a movement that was almost apprehensive, as though he were human, meeting a stranger with considerable more bulk on him. As though he had a few doubts. But there were none.
"Caleb?" Archie queried, smiling brightly and stepping back, holding the door open to welcome his guest. "Thank you for agreeing to meet me. Especially here. Please don't feel you need to stay longer than you're comfortable."
He gestured to either the bed or the unused chair that was gathering dust near his window as the seating options and went to the dresser where his small kettle and cups and beverages sat. "Will it be a coffee or a tea? How do you take it?" That was a nice easy ice breaker. He'd adhere to the cliche of his people and have tea, smiling at Caleb again as he awaited his answer.
