The apology was unexpected to Wren and while he nodded that everything was okay, his huge dark eyes only expressed uncertainty. He didn't take his eyes off the stranger but he still flinched when the man clicked his fingers and slunk lower to the ground, his expression turning anxious. He let the dog's paw slip from his loose grip with some reluctance but didn't look away from the stranger, still worried about that leash.
"Oh, no, I just got surprised but she's lovely." he said with a smile, his hesitancy fading amidst conversation, like that meant he was safe.
He nodded his head at the question and picked at the ground a little again with a slight frown. "Worms." he answered simply, giving up for the moment and rubbing the fingers of one hand with the other. "The ground is cold." he shared his problem easily.
