Wren was wide-eyed in surprise at the beautiful animal that had seemingly appeared before him out of thin air - he'd never seen a dog in her colour before and he was transfixed. The sudden shout that he couldn't connect with the dog had him flinching and flicking his attention in the direction it had come from, his eye treating him to a brief glimpse through the trees - literally through them - before his power glitched back off and he was presented with a paw.
He'd never had a dog do this before either, but the gesture seemed to be significant and he reached out to hold the animal's foot as though it was sore; it was difficult to tell who had the filthier end, Wren or the dog, the boy's hands and fingers caked in the black wet earth of the lakeside.
He looked up again when a man appeared, again as though from out of nowhere, which paired him with the dog in Wren's disorganised mind.
"She gave me this." he said, indicating Heart's paw as he gazed up at the stranger from his place on the ground. "I don't want the leash please." he said next, seeming quite worried that the comment had been aimed at him, although his acceptance of that fact spoke of something dark.
