Re: Bookstore: Caleb R/Dietre A
Summer and Dietre had never been friends, he couldn’t stand the heat, and the season held no sweet memories of family outings by beaches or campsites. At least in winter you have an excuse to stay inside, you never felt like you were missing out on something good. Fall was a relief, really, but not much more than that. All those harvest time activities, the hay rides, the pumpkin carving… Dietre had never done any of that either. Not yet anyway, for all he knew he might be able to cross apple bobbing of the list sometime soon. That wa something.
So his invitation was accepted, and following the flame of joy, as always, was the chill of fear. It was so easy to imagine it going wrong, Caleb sitting bored and unimpressed, regretting he came… Dietre’s brow furrowed, an anxious look he tried to blink away as he stood to the side watching Caleb pay.
“Um… Yes, let's sit.” Dietre instinctually gravitated to the table with the least amount of people nearby. You couldn’t really call it private, but it was quiet, and that was enough.
As he settled into a chair he bit at his lower lip, hand folding in his lap under the table. After losing over half of the few friends he made all within a year, he found himself struggling to get the ball rolling worse than usual. Maybe if Caleb wasn’t so handsome, maybe if they had talked more online prior to meeting, maybe if kissing hadn’t been the subject of their most recent conversation… it’d be easier.
“...W-what sort of music do you like?” He asked finally. “For the piano? If you tell me, then I can make sure I can play it if it isn’t something I don’t already know…”
