WHEN: {backdated} Tuesday, 14 July, 2005
WHERE: Pansy’s shop; Diagon Alley
RATING|STATUS: Low | In progress
Despite his intense distaste for most people, Severus had needed out of the house. After his release from the rehabilitation center the previous week, he’d gone for supplies and then spent several days straight in his house. At first, it had been an incredible relief to be able to exist in solitude without any expectations on him. There was no Dumbledore, no Voldemort, no students or school, no one demanding his time and energy. Though he’d had some of that in the RRC, he’d still been constantly surrounded by people (especially by people he hated), so relaxing hadn’t been an option. The first four days spent by himself had honestly been wonderful, the first time he’d felt like himself in years, really. But even for a solitary person like Severus, he’d grown so used to seeing people everyday, whether he was at Hogwarts or attending Order or Death Eater meetings, and after several days, he found himself...not lonely, exactly, but definitely something. Of course, the one time he ventured out to get supplies, he’d found himself the subject of quite a few stares as people recognized him. Severus didn’t think himself ‘infamous’ or well-known on sight to the general public, but he’d noticed enough people recognized him to make him uncomfortable. It took him a couple days to locate and purchase some brewed Polyjuice potion, but once he finally had it, all he needed was the hair from a neighbor, which he got easily, and he was ready to go. Go where, he didn’t immediately know as he set off down the street, hidden under a Disilusionment Charm. He decided to try something simple--Diagon Alley--and Apparated there with a crack. Ducking into an alley, Severus removed the charm and took the potion, waited for it to take effect, then made his way into the Alley. It was good to be around people without really being noticed. People saw him, but since the face he was wearing belonged to a muggle located a great distance away, no one recognized it, exactly as he planned. So Severus was free to walk around for a bit and get his bearings; though he’d been in the Alley previously, he hadn’t taken the time to really look around because of the staring. Now that he was in disguise, he felt more free to do so. He wasn’t sure exactly what drew him inside the clothing shop, but if pressed, he would insist it was merely curiosity at seeing what one of his former students had done with her life. It was obvious he’d played favorites during his time at Hogwarts, so who would doubt him? Yet, his ‘curiosity’ did not drive him to immediately speak to Pansy; instead, he looked around and watched--which was probably fine for a while, given that she appeared quite busy. |
