[001] ♟ voice
[He'd been staring at the ceiling for a few hours now, motionless. He was thinking and thinking hard, unsure of exactly where he was and, furthermore, why he was here. Yes, he heard the announcement and knew of his location but he just wasn't too sure on why. He felt more empty then angry. He sits up, brushing his fingers through his hair, and reaches lazily over to the communicator which sits upon the table at his bedside. After a moment of observation, he moves a slender finger to turn the device on. There's a short pause before he finally speaks.]

I find this all hard to believe. Waking up? It doesn't even feel like I've been sleeping. The sensations are mixed up, all wrong. [His voice holds obvious frustration. Not being able to understand much of anything bothered him to a certain degree. He grips the device tighter] This doesn't feel like reality. If I've 'awakened', how long has it been since I've been 'alive'?

[He pauses, an obvious dejected sigh filling the silence. He finds himself at a loss for words, his own realization hitting him and hitting him hard. Before signing off, he adds another quiet statement.] My name is Lelouch vi Britannia.

[ She's hit by a number of emotions rapidfire. First, she's glad-- happy to hear her brother. It means he's alive and she didn't dream him up; it means that maybe she didn't dream up Cornelia, or Suzaku, or any of her other siblings. ]

[ And then, so sickeningly upset. After the breath, the heartbeat her happiness lasts, realization slams into her hard. He's here, so that means he's been sick just as she has. He's here and he might not remember the same things she does, and that'd destroy the tiny shred of hope Euphemia has that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't a dream. Lelouch is here, so that means he might be confused and upset just as she is now. ]

[It hit him straight through the heart, a bullet twisting its way through his chest. He knew that voice. He'd always know that voice. His mouth was suddenly dry and he felt himself almost drop the device.]

[It takes him a moment but he finally swallows and closes his eyes] Euphie. I couldn't forget that voice. [His tone is bittersweet, relieved and overjoyed to hear someone he thought he had lost but another pang of emotion ran through him; was what he knew a fabrication? Which Euphie was this? Did it matter? Regardless, he had her voice and for the moment, it was relief enough.] It's really me if it's really you.

I... yes. It is. Um! Let me... [ she fiddles with the device for a moment, and the video turns on. you can see Euphemia pretty clearly even if it's shaky. ] Where are you, Lelouch?

[The voice was enough to break Lelouch down from his anger towards the situation, though once he saw the video, he felt himself almost forget entirely his situation, where he was. This single moment washed away the discontent and he focuses only on Euphemia.]

[He too moves his finger along his device and turns on the video and Lelouch appears, violet eyes much softer then they had been moments before.] It's good to see you, Euphie. It's been too long. [Her question snaps him back to his disbelief of what he had been told. He looks around as if expecting an answer.] I guess...this would be my room. I haven't moved since I've woken up. Where are you?

It does seem rather hard to believe, does it not? Everything has been too vivid a dream, if they are dreams.

Perhaps in time, we shall sort it all out, Mister Britannia.

I have no intention on believing what I experienced was a dream. No logic will ever make me believe that all of his emotions, those feelings, the acts committed....[He pauses, realizing his rambling, remembering, regretting.]

Hn. I can only hope so. And Lelouch is fine...

Lelouch then...

Logic dictates that it was possible that it was all a dream but as you do, there is this feeling at the back of my mind that refuses to accept it as such.
Of course, I would rather like to believe that it wasn't a dream. Time will tell, perhaps, what you choose to believe and what we must truly believe.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I will believe what I have truly felt and all I have felt since I've 'awakened' is a splitting headache. Sense and logic have a tighter grasp then most people believe and I'm not about to let some 'warden' tell me what's real and what's not.

Heh...I believe that you are right in a sense. Time will tell.

Rather admirable, your sense of identity. I find that such a trait will be most needed in this place should we wish to leave with our sanity in tact. Perhaps those with will shall find the truth faster than those who have accepted their fates.

Ah, but where are my manners? Going on like this without so much as an introduction. Kazutaka Muraki, Lelouch. A pleasure to have made your acquaintance.

[Oh, he'd been thinking about this one. Of course, he'd been thinking about everything. That's just who Lelouch was.] In the name of science would be my first guess. Why else would they need such a large group of people. I highly doubt it's cult related. Why separate us then if they claim all we know is a lie. Our stories wouldn't match up. None of this makes enough sense...

You see this as a game? Games have rules. Games have consequences and boundaries. Sticking us in a room with only this device and some wayward story of how what we knew was wrong doesn't seem like a well-devised game. [Then again, Lelouch really didn't know what it seemed like.]

[A piece. A pawn. Not even a rook or a knight but a pawn. He furrows his brow, tone taking on a darkness.] I am no one's pawn. What this is, what this 'game' is, is a giant illusion of grandeur plotted by someone with no time on their hands and a sick sense of humor.

So it seems. A cleverly assembled ruse thought up by some pretty creative storytellers. It's nothing more, nothing less.

We are who we are and nothing is going to change that. This is clever, I'll admit to it, but it won't be tolerable for much longer.
