[Action]
[Fletcher is sitting in the cafeteria, picking at a plate of food. It's not that it's bad; it's just that he hasn't been really hungry since he first woke up here. There doesn't seem to be much point in anything if everything he knows was a lie. Even alchemy, his secret life ambition, is really an old and discredited science.

He knows he has to stop being so down. Somewhere out there, his family is waiting for him to remember everything and come home to them. Somewhere out there, Russel (he hopes) is probably heartbroken at the idea that Fletcher doesn't remember growing up by his side. Moping won't get him anywhere. But he doesn't know how to stop.

So he keeps poking at his breakfast. And he makes one resolution: Today, at least, he's not going to cry.]

[There's a soft hum of a motorized wheelchair, and Nunnally is approaching with a small tray of her own breakfast settled on her lap. She's looking at him sympathetically and a little curious.]

Would it be alright if I joined you for breakfast?

[Fletcher certainly isn't alone in being melancholy. There are too many questions and not nearly enough answers, but the least she can do is try to form bonds with the people in the same situation as herself.]

[He looks up. Ah, it's one of those people from that Britannia place... Fletcher nods. Nunnally had seemed nice before.] It's, um, it's okay.

Thank you very much.

[She offers him a gentle smile as she steers her wheelchair to the table and sets her tray on it.]

It's good to meet you in person. Putting a face to a name is always nice.

Y-yeah. Um, you too. Nunnally, right? [He knows she is, but phrasing it as a question sounds better to him.]

Mhmm, that's right.

[She looks pleased that he recalled her name, even though its only been just a day. Before going to breakfast, she'd been following the discussions with the Doctor on the device.]

And you're Fletcher, the kind-hearted botanist. I was hoping I'd get to see you.

[She doesn't want to pry, but maybe offering some friendly companionship could help.]

[That flusters him a bit. He ducks his head, face a little blushy.]

Um-- thanks. That--that's really nice of you.

[Blushie and flustered is an improvement. Nunnally is sure she is going to win out.]

I just like making new friends, that's all. And since you like plants so much, I was hoping maybe I could see if you wanted to go to the gardens with me.

Um-- that could be fun... The gardens here are really nice.

[Fail, Fletcher. She already knows that!]

Um... what kinds of plants do you like?

I really like wildflowers. They're fun to weave all together to make jewelry.

What about you? Do you have a favorite?

Those are nice... Um, not really. I like every kind of plant equally.

All of them? Even the ones with spikes, like cactuses?

Yeah. I've never gotten to see cacti, but they're really interesting. They can go a really long time without water, and... [trails off; talking so much flusters him.]

Ah, you really do love them all.

Maybe we need to see if we can grow a cactus in the garden then.

[Yeah, she has no idea it takes like a year to get one that's two inches tall. This is not the mun breaking the fourth wall and eyeballing her baby cactus balefully.]

[A-awww baby cactus]

That would be nice! I'll, um, ask one of the nurses.
