As a result of the recent zombie... uh... incidents in Austin, there's a slight delay in the supply chain from Denver. Rather than stocking on the first day of the month, as usual, Walker's doesn't receive its new items until the 2nd. It's only a day late, but considering Walker's reputation has already suffered severely, it's still not good news for the grocery store.
All orders placed by individuals will be also be delayed. Instead of being delivered on the 2nd, these items arrive on the 4th. They're all in good condition, however, and no worse the wear for being a little late. If your character wants to order something for October 2019 delivery, there's still time! Let us know here. As always, the mods trust that the players can use their best judgment regarding what items -- as far as type of item and price -- could be obtained via mail-order by your character.
Just The Facts, Please
After a quiet examination of Patient Zero and his family and a brief investigation into their lives, the source of his infection has been discovered. On the 1st of October an announcement will be made regarding this, explaining that it was not the cold that made them convert and detailing the new information about the ways the virus can be contracted and spread.
The following day, on October 2nd, members of both the Council and the Cabinet will begin conducting interviews over the freenet in order to learn more about the incidents on September 6 and 8, identify weaknesses and triggers in the city, and implement disaster prevention in October and future months. Non-quarantined characters who were present at one of the scenes of the zombie incursion on either day will receive a request for one of these mandatory interviews.
Let Them Come In Their Legions
Though temporary barricades replaced those that were overrun in September, at the beginning of this month work begins to replace these with fortified, permanent versions. Additionally, new barricades will be added around downtown, in hopes of providing greater security for Austin's citizens in the future.
The Zombie Infection And You
Now that additional findings about the virus have been made public, an awareness campaign to disseminate this information kicks off. Pamphlets detailing what is known about how it is contracted, how it spreads, and detailing contamination risks begin to appear throughout the city on October 4th. Specifically, they are placed in the Capitol rotunda and the UMCB waiting rooms, as well as at the Lending Library and Walker's. Though the tone of the writing is a bit dry, it's undoubtedly informative.
Savannah's Petition
Though construction of perimeter walls is underway, Savannah doesn’t think they’re progressing fast enough. With much of the city’s manpower in quarantine, they’ve been left more defenseless than ever. In addition to the extra supplies and manpower that arrive with October's first caravans, Savannah is calling for Denver to declare a State of Emergency on Austin and send more workers there to help secure their city. Though corrupt leadership no longer plagues Austin, many disparities still need to be fixed, with Savannah holding the United States Government accountable. On October 5th, Savannah’s petition for governmental assistance will be announced.
October 2: Sasha Whittaker's birthday. Local investigation into the zombie incursion begins. Walker's is restocked.
October 3: Dani Diaz's birthday. Barricade construction builds in earnest around the districts.
October 4: Nathan Posey's birthday. The first virus awareness pamphlets begin to appear. Personal deliveries arrive.
October 5: Savannah Posey submits petition requesting extra manpower from Denver.
