Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who : Ezekiel Summerby and Daphne Greengrass
What : Drinks
Where : The Leaky Cauldron, then Swagger (a muggle blues club)
When : Friday Evening
Status : Incomplete
Rating : PG-13? Who knows with these two.

Ezekiel sat at the bar in the Cauldron, patiently waiting for his date to arrive. He was over-dressed, for his current location at least, in a pair of black slacks with a matching sport coat. Underneath the coat he wore a gray cotton shirt, having opted not to wear a dress shirt. Swagger was classy, yes, but it didn't warrant wearing a tuxedo or something of the sort.

His back was to the door, head propped up on his right hand. He was seemingly lost in thought, a drink sitting untouched at his elbow. Hannah had been uncharacteristically quiet, not chattering on as she usually did. It wasn't surprising, though, because the Cauldron was quite busy. It's Friday night, after all. He smiled to himself and turned back to the bar; he had a drink to finish before Daphne arrived, after all.

She was dressed to the nines, perfectly made up in such a way that all witches and muggles alike found their eyes would be trained to every inch of her as she was the best eye candy around. Knowing Zeke meant knowing that his haunt of a place would be something stylish. Not something incredibly first-class, nor something casual, but something between the two. This meant she chose to wear something that would be too funky for anything high class. A Ruched halter wiggle, reminiscent of a 1950's pin up dress, kissed every curve of that perfect body. All black, including pumps and nail-polish. After all, she was in mourning.

She was dressed to the nines and when she stepped into the Leaky Cauldron, Hannah Abbott's eyebrows perked. She grinned like a cat and winked at Zeke. "Mighty fine date you have there, Zeke!" Daphne heard this and scowled somewhat. Her reply came only after sitting down beside Zeke.

"This is not a date."

"I never said it was."

The subtle curve of his lip inched upwards as he broke into a grin, and he dropped a knowing wink at Hannah.

"It's a business meeting, unless my intentions were unclear."

That was a big, fat lie; up there with the likes of "Terry, if I had known she'd arrived at the party with you I wouldn't have left with her!" and "No, dear, you can't see through that top". Lying was a part of the business, whether he liked it or not. What he didn't like is how much it had bled over into his personal life. Picking up the glass of whiskey, he gave it a swirl, cubes of ice clinking against their container, before finishing his drink.

"Right, then. Thank you for the drink, Hannah, but we must really be going. I'll try and come in next week for lunch. Save me a table!"

Swiveling on the stool, he stood and adjusted his jacket before offering an arm to Daphne. Whether or not she took his arm he exited the Cauldron and made his way down the street, humming softly the whole time.

"Neither did I, but apparently Miss Abbott has the wrong idea about us." Not that she wasn't on to something, that stupid blonde. She was very much warm in her guessing that the two were somewhat involved. Midnight trists with the sort of enemy where not brought out into the light, ever. Daphne made sure of that. It did not stop people from wondering or supposing, however. Hannah was proof that some witches just had too much time on their hands or not enough brains in their heads, in Daphne's opinion.

"It's purely business," she agreed, but Daphne took that elbow without flinching and was swept away from the magical world by the boy's long strides. They walked in union for quite sometime, while he hummed and she watched the sky grow darker as clouds covered the moon. Eventually though, she unlatched herself from his arm and crossed hers over her breasts. "You are going to buy them, aren't you?"

A white clutch she had been holding to her side the whole time was suddenly taking her interest completely. She opened it, dug through it, then after a moment snapped it shut and popped something into her mouth. It was later made apparent that the item was droobles because she began popping the gum and blowing bubbles.

"Buy.. who? The Apothecary? I hadn't given it much thought, really." Another lie. He currently had a team working out the details with the owners, under strict instructions to be as facilitating as possible. They had a reputation to maintain, after all.

He paused when she took her arm back, his own disappearing into his jacket. He brought out a flask and artfully removed the lid with his thumb. Raising it to his lips, he tilted his hand towards her and nodded before taking a sip. The cognac went down smoothly, and soon enough the container was stowed away.

"I must say," he said while lowering his voice, head tilting close enough to her ear that she could surely feel warm breath on her neck, "You look stunning tonight. All dressed up for a business meeting?" He spoke with a slight grin, his eyes glinting in the street light.

"Mmhm." What a liar. She had tried and tried to reason with the owners that hers was the family oriented business but they didn't seem too interested. Perhaps because someone has gotten their grubby paws on the owners first. She was slightly bitter about this, obviously so.

Daphne's gum chewing slowed somewhat and her bubbles got bigger and bigger each time she made a new one. The last one was popped and drawn back into her mouth with a sweep of her tongue. All because that silly boy had decided to invade her personal space and send shivers down her spine. She laughed.

"Oh, I'm going out after this meeting, to meet.. my boyfriend."

His grin only widened at the mention of a boyfriend, and he let loose a chuckle. "Well, he's a lucky man. You'll have to buy him a drink for me." His eyebrows wiggled and he laughed once more, shaking his head. Pushing his hands into his pockets, he continued to walk.

Swagger was relatively new in London, but he'd heard great things about it. Apparently they had a house vocalist who was reminiscent of 'Muddy Waters', one of Zeke's favorite musicians. It also seemed somewhat appropriate to take her to a Blues club, as he was well aware her father had passed recently.

Swinging around a street corner, he finally spotted it. A large neon sign with 'Swagger' scrawled across it. "That's where we're headed," he spoke, nodding at the sign. "Unless you've got any objections, of course."
