Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
[WHO] Laura Madley and Anthony Goldstein, with Hannah Abbott in the beginning!
[WHAT] Hannah brings Anthony to the hospital and Laura, who is being shuffled around with the attack mayhem, is attending.
[When] After the Wayne and Anthony thread on attack day.
[Where] Mungo's!

"Oh wow."

"I know, I found him like this and he's all sorts of bloody."

"Oh, Hannah! Go wash your hands or scorgify them, that's very.. ehm.."

"Can you do it for me? I don't want to get my wand all bloody.."

"Right. Scourgify. Right as rain. Have a seat Hannah."

Hannah Abbott sat upon a spare spinning stool that had a fantastic set of rolling wheels. It allowed her to glide close to where the man in question laid upon a gurney. The wheels squeaked softly as she did so and Hannah frowned at the sound. Such a sore sound for a quiet hospital room! None the less, the blonde took Anthony's free hand with her freshly cleaned fingers wrapping about his own. "Poor thing, I think he tried to apparate after the attack but lost too much blood. Has it stopped yet?"

"Hm?" Laura Madley had only just finished setting up an IV of the potion mix needed to keep his blood from squirting out anymore than it needed to. It was charmed in particular for the leg, while a quarter of the potion was a concentrated painkiller. "It has," she murmured as she drew her wand up his pant leg. The fabric split from a silent spell and was easily pulled off that on area of his shin, leaving the rest of him clothed in slightly blood stained trousers.

Hannah shuddered and looked away. "You can come back later, Hannah. This might not be very pleasant."

"Sure. Sure," and the pigtailed girl stood up and walked past quickly so that she didn't faint at the sight of a bullet hole. This left Laura alone to carefully work on getting the bullet out and the bone and muscle healed. The process was a long one, which meant an hour later the potions keeping him down were going wear off just in time for her to finish the spells. The pain potion was still heavily in effect though.

Under the potions effects, Anthony slid in and out of consciousness. His head swam, the blackness broken only when he managed to will his eyes open. His head hurt, but it was more of an annoyance than anything.

"Merlin! The door was open and..." his voice drifted off as he desperately tried to get his eyes to focus. Raising a hand to cover his eyes, he had an intense moment of deja vu which wore off after a quick shake of his head.

"Bloody hell. Did they break my back? I.. my legs are numb." His speech was slurred slightly, as if he didn't realize he were speaking aloud.

"STAY... THERE..." Laura wasn't talking to Anthony. She was talking to the fly that had somehow, lazily floated in through some opening to sit it's self on Anthony's hand. She stared at it, contemplated it, then finally she went for the kill and gently tried to bap the fly away. It was too quick and out of the way before she could make the proper kill. "Bother. Oh! Oh you're awake! How do you feel?"

Laura's lips uncurled into the most comforting of smiles. It was her duty as a healer to encourage healing in all ways possible, whether through magic of the wand or magic of the smile. At least, that was what her trainer had told her. Thus, she tried to seem pleasant, despite feeling frustrated about the fly that got away.

At the sound of a voice, his head snapped up. He looked himself over, then spotted someone he could only assume was a healer of sorts. "Sorry, what was that? I didn't quite catch what you said."

His head began to clear, though his body tingled very lightly. He felt especially warm, but not to the point of being uncomfortable; the muscles in his lower back tensed. He hesitated before trying to sit up, but did so anyway.

"How did I get here? What happened at the Ministry, do you know?" He couldn't explain just how his head felt, but it didn't feel right.

"Ah, no. You best be sittin' back. Healer's orders." Laura's smile was dropped for a much sterner sort of look. One that said she was in charge and he had best be listening unless he wanted her to use her wand on him. She reached out and gently pushed him back down against the bed then fished out her wand from her robes to perform a charm on the bed it's self. The mattress slowly began moving up so he could lay back but be sitting up still.

"That'll do. Hannah brought you in, lovey. Found you passed out cold in front of The Leaky, she did. Bullet through your leg, like most of them.. some weren't so lucky," she sighed. "But most everyone is healing up fine. Anthony Goldstein, am I right? Tell me, you remember anything about your attacker?"

Anthony was slightly confused by being told to lie back down, but complied anyway. He settled into the bed after the mattress finished moving and began undoing the cuffs on his shirt. After rolling the sleeves up he laid his head back, grateful for the comfort that had been provided.

"Oh, I see." He frowned, bringing a hand up to rub his chin. Trying to remember what had happened after he entered the building made his head feel as if it were in a vice. Wincing, the hand moved from his chin to his temple. "Yes, Anthony Goldstein. But no, I don't." Even if he had, he couldn't divulge information in an ongoing investigation.

"And you're.. Laura. Laura Cagley? No.." His memory faltering was a giant red flag, waving carelessly in the wind. "I mean, Laura Madley. Right?"

"Laura Cagley," she guffawed for a moment at the wrong name mishap and brushed it off with a rotation of her hand in the air, as if she were shooing a fly away. "Close enough. Madley is the right one, lovey." She felt somewhat proud to know someone recalled her name. Sometimes, even those of her own house forgot who she was, but most of the time it was impossible to forget that the most hyperactive soul outside of Gryffindor was Miss Laura "Sugar-Quill Freak" Madley.

"Tsk. Either you hit your head or someone obliviated you. Probably your head. Don't know why they'd mess with your memories. Didn't do it to anyone else!" Laura tucked her wand behind her ear and began checking his vital. Her fingers curled around his wrist and she glanced at a watch on her own wrist while she took his pulse. "We're going to keep you a bit, make sure you can use that leg right before we let you go."

Something was wrong. Big time. "Madley, right.." He nodded, one hand raising to move through his hair. He seriously doubted that he'd hit his head hard enough to do any serious damage. He hadn't fell, at least that he could remember.

So that left being obliviated. Which meant that, perhaps, there was an insider in the Ministry? The thought made him nauseous. "Just how long, exactly? I don't mean to be rude, Miss Madley, but I need to attend to some rather immediate business."

He tried to hold back a frown, but couldn't. He enjoyed the doting, and she was rather attractive. He suddenly wasn't looking forward to returning to work.

"There's this wonderful little charm," she murmured. Laura's fingers lifted from his wrist and were gently plucking the wand from behind her ear as she spoke. "It's where healer's can take a sprained, aching muscle and return it to normal as they remove problematic things such as.. oh, I don't know.. a bullet? Then they can either let that muscle stay charmed for the remainder of healing, or.."

The wand was carefully placed just under his knee at the point of entry and she narrowed her bright blues. "Or we can undo the charm and let the sprain come back for a long, drawn-out, very painful, natural healing. If you have to go, I'll just do that."

Anthony blinked, obviously surprised. "Well, then. I suppose I'll just have to stay." He slowly began to relax, allowing himself to get comfortable on the bed while she worked.

"I guess it must be pretty hectic around here with the attack and all." He generally wasn't one to make small talk, but when the person you were talking to was healing you, he figured it was best to be friendly. Or at least try to be.

Laura's wand was instantly stored back behind her ear, safe and sound, until another threat was needed. So far, the wizard seemed to be smart enough to obey his healers, but he also seemed trickery, which meant Laura was going to have to warn the other healers about his desire to go free early. It was only the Ravenclaws and Gryffindors of the world who refused proper treatment!

She finished writing out his vitals on the scroll of parchment and lifted her eyes briefly to match his gaze. "Oh, it is. I'm a midwife, actually. I was a potions lab rat before that, got switched over to the babies and now I've got one big baby to take care of." Her eyes twinkled slightly at the jest and her lips uncurled into a slight smirk.

He couldn't help but grin at her quip. "Well, if I go into labor, at least I know I'll be well taken care of." Shifting in the bed, he winced when he accidentally moved his bad leg. "I never could get comfortable in these things. They're just so small... it's like lying in a coffin."

Shuddering, he shook his head and then ran his hands up the lengths of his arms. He was chilly, but not terribly so; just cold enough to make the hair on his arms stand up.

"I apologize for acting like a prat. You're doing your job, and I admire that. I can't imagine having to put up with people like me all day." He offered a smile. An unforced, real smile, which was getting harder to get him to do as he got older. "We don't appreciate our healers enough. Witches and wizards like you keep us all tiptop, and... well, thank you."
