Where: The Leaky
What: Mucking About
Rating: TBA - Who knows with these two
Status: Thread//Incomplete

In all honesty, Harry was quite glad to have escaped the rather tense atmosphere in their home. The boys didn't seem to notice, thankfully, which allowed him to continue being frustrated without feeling guilty about it. They still did everything together, particularly where the boys were concerned, but there was a bit of hostility between himself and Ginny. She thought he was being unreasonable and he thought she wasn't being careful enough with the boys. Either way, they were accomplishing nothing. If nothing else, he could definitely say he had never wanted to hex her so badly before. Their final comments in her journal had been like rubbing salt in the wound. The sting had yet to fade.

After arriving at the Leaky, he grabbed a couple of drinks and a table for himself and Ron. The redhead had said he'd only be a few minutes, but Harry knew how long it could take to find someone to take care of the kids, even if it was just Molly. He loved the woman dearly, but sometimes she seemed to pick the worse moments to start a conversation and Harry would never interrupt her in order to tell her that he had to leave. He'd shown up rather late for work on occasion due to that very reason.

"Ronald Bilius Weasley! What on earth is your daughter wearing?"

Ron blinked at the child in his arms, who only seemed to giggle at the fact that her grandmother was angry and her father was afraid for his life. How could such a sweet, little, innocent girl have caused such a ruckus without so much as smiling at her dear grandmother?

"Hermione called it a bodysuit, mum. I just picked one out and threw it on her. She's fine, though right? I mean...... I didn't do anything wrong, did I? You know Hermione will kill me."

"Oh Ronald, it's inside out!" The woman's voice grew louder as the frustration mounted, and Ron gulped.

"Oops."

"Oops is right, young man. Now you kiss your daughter goodbye and hand her over to me before she ends up in your father's flying car again."

"Dad's still got that thing? Bloody nutters, I tell ya." Ron rolled his eyes and shook his head, leaning forward to press a kiss to Rosie's forehead. "Love you, freckles. Be good to your grandmum." He grinned up at his mother before handing her over. "Thanks, mum."

"Now you take care of yourself, Ron Weasley. This child needs you."

"Of course, mum. Always do." And no less than a split second later, he had apparated to the Leaky Cauldron only to quickly find Harry at a table.

"Sorry about that, mate," he said as he slumped down into a chair across from his best mate, "mum and all..."

Harry only grinned and slid the drink across the table to him. He could only imagine what Molly had had to say to Ron. It could range from the colour of his shirt to what Rosie had eaten for breakfast. "You don't have to apologize to me." he responded, amused. "I know exactly how difficult the Weasley women can be. I married one."

Taking a drink from his own bottle, he leaned back. "Hopefully it wasn't too much of a bother. I suppose I didn't give you much warning with my owl." In all respects he probably should have asked Ron if there was a time when he was available. It wasn't as though they were in Hogwarts with all the time in the world. It was still a bit difficult to grasp the fact that they each were married and had children of their own. Sometimes he still felt the moment of surprise when Hermione arrived on the door with Rosie.

"How's Rosie and Hermione, anyway?" he asked. It had been a while since they had all gotten together. Work and the like had been keeping them pretty busy.

"Oh, you know mum and how she is." He left it at that, because really, his mum had always been a bit of a bother to him, though he knew deep down that she meant well. And he was eternally grateful to her for taking care of his daughter. He and Hermione needed a break from time to time.

Taking a swig of his drink, he shrugged. "It wasn't too much trouble. Either way, I'm just glad to not be a dad for a little while. I don't think I've slept properly in six months." He did love his daughter though, very much so. Despite it all, he didn't think he could ever stop being a dad now, not with his beautiful daughter out there in the world. She was his everything besides Hermione, but Ron was known to talk just for the sake of taking.

"They're all right. Hermione's been working a lot. You know how she is. And well, Rosie's eager to get up and start walking all over. Overachiever just like her bloody mother. You're lucky, mate. Got two boys to even the odds and all. I've got two women in my house. Imagine that, ey?"

Harry chuckled. "True enough. Although, I have to admit, those boys can be quite the terrors when they put their minds to it. I'm finally starting to appreciate your mother, particularly since I often see the resemblance of Fred and George in James and Albus. Sometimes it is a very scary thought."

"In all honesty, I wouldn't mind a girl, but given the results thus far, I'm not too sure I will get one." Harry responded, with a small shrug and a grin. "But I suppose I can always spoil Rosie. Perhaps I can further her overachieving abilities."

He laughed at the thought of Ron living amongst two Hermione's. "I really can't wait until she's a teenager. I have to admit. You are going to have your hands full. One Hermione was bad enough, let alone two of them. They'll have you cracking open Hogwarts: A History in no time."

"George has calmed down a bit since.... well, since then." Ron snorted though at the idea of James and Albus being like his two older brothers. He'd quite often been the butt of the twins' jokes, and he didn't very much fancy the idea of those two going around pranking a little sister or even his little Rosie. Still, he didn't think Harry would let them get away with so much.

"Oy, no need for that. I already treat her like she's made of bloody gold." He shrugged and added as an afterthought, "which she is." He grinned a bit. Talking about his daughter often left him in a somewhat mushy mood. He hadn't expected her to be a girl, and he hadn't expected to get so attached to her. He now understood what it must have felt like for his mother to lose Fred.

At Harry's comment, Ron shook his head, taking a long swig of a his drink. "Merlin... not Hogwarts: A History. Anything but that. You think it's my curse in life for always having poked fun at Hermione when we were younger?"

Harry chuckled, amused at the image of the grin on Ron's face at the mention of treating his daughter as those she were made of gold. Apparently being a father suited Ron, just fine. On top of that he couldn't help but be amused by his final comment.

"I don't really think it was the poking fun of her. I think it has more to do with you stepping on her toes." Harry responded, with a smirk. "I have to admit, Ron, you managed to hit every one of her buttons with ease. Half the time you didn't see the hex coming until it hit you. Not to mention you were bloody stubborn when it came to admitting you were wrong. I still get a good laugh about how you asked her about the Yule Ball."

The ease with which he was able to transition into being a father surprised him. He hadn't ever really given parenting a lot of thought, save for simply having to deal with his own parents. It helped that he came from a large, loving and caring family... and that Hermione would kill him if anything ever happened to Rosie while under his care.

"Oy! The Yule Ball." He rubbed at his eyes. "You just had to bring that up, didn't you?" To Ron, the Yule Ball had to be one of the most traumatising experiences of his life, up until that point. Of course, afterward when they were hunting for horcruxes... that was pretty tough too. But the Yule Ball was fairly high up on his list of events he seriously wanted to forget.

"I had the worst time too. And I still can't properly look at Fleur without remember that bumbling idiot moment when I shouted at her across the hall. As if it was my fault she's half Veela!"

Harry couldn't hold in his laughter. There was a part of him that felt bad for laughing at the misfortune of the redhead, but that part was drowned out by the look that had graced Ron's features when he came back to the Common room and the event had been explained to Hermione and himself.

"While that will always be a favourite moment of mine." he chuckled, setting his half empty bottle onto the table. "I was referring to the train wreck that started with "Hermione, your a girl..." That was probably your biggest mistake."

The moment Ron had said that, he'd seen the collision ahead of him. He'd wanted to warn him he was heading in the wrong direction, but he hadn't the time to do so and he figured Ron probably would not have headed the warning before Hermione swopped in for the kill. At that point the damage had already been done.

"Well, she was a girl!" Ron protested. "And I hope she still bloody is one. I think it'd be worse if I'd called her a bloke or something of the sort, wouldn't you think?" Ron shook his head. Girls were things he had yet to fully understand. Unless they were young and simple like his daughter. All she wanted to do was eat, sleep and cuddle. And occasionally be cleaned.

"Merlin, what a disaster. It's a miracle she'll even talk to me today really. I couldn't ever say anything right around her." He swirled his drink around, smirking at it. "In fact, I think I still can't. You and Gin always got on better than me and Hermione. Still do."

"It wasn't so much the fact that you called her a girl." Harry responded, his smile still lingering. "I think it had more to do with her being the last one you thought of when it came to dates. I think she had a little bit of a crush at that point."

He wrinkled his nose at the comment about him a Ginny. "I don't know, Ron. Sometimes I disagree." he responded, with a shrug. "Sure we don't bicker like you and Hermione, but when we do argue it tends to be...explosive, not to mention last for a while. We're both ridiculously stubborn particularly when we think we're right."

Oh, Ron had a difficulty understanding certain things, such as the way the female mind worked. Then again, he figured he shouldn't have to understand such things. He was a bloke after all. It was all right for him to make fatal mistakes of the sort from time to time... to time to time to time.... right? "Well, I'd thought of her first... if that counts or anything."

He smirked though, because he knew very well that didn't count for nothing, at least not at the moment. His smirk faded though at Harry's comments on Ginny. "But you always work through things, don't you?" He even frowned a bit. It'd taken a while for Ron to get used to Ginny and Harry, but he figured it was better Harry than some other random bloke out there. Harry was like his brother, and Ginny his sister. It was only natural for him to be thankful to Harry for putting up with the brat.

"All right, what happened now?" He could just tell by the way Harry was looking and sitting. He'd known him since they were eleven. How could he not see when something was bothering the other man?

Sometimes Harry was completely frustrated with having people read him like a book. He knew, despite Ron being Ginny's sister, he could talk to him about anything...well...almost anything, but he still felt slightly bad about venting. He'd planned to go out to forget about the tension, not bring it back up, but unfortunately he could be read easily and it was obvious that it was bothering me.

"No, we normally do work it out. It sometimes takes a while, but we do. As much as she drives me insane, I do love her." Harry responded, with a shrug. "I don't know. Perhaps I am being too overprotective of them, but that's just the way I feel about it. Have you heard about the 'gallery' Dennis Creevey's doing?"

Seeing as the man had made a post in the journal's he was sure Ron had seen it. "Well, Ginny offered up James and Albus and I don't want them to do it. Yes, we know Dennis and I know he's not going to go out of his way to harm them, but they are going to be displayed to the public. The boys are just little. You know how I feel about the press, and I want to keep the boys as far away from it as they can be. Ginny on the other hand seems to think I need to get over it." he responded, with a sigh. "I don't know...like I said, I may be over reacting, but I just feel like I should have at least have had some say in it. I mean, yeah, she's experienced the hounding of the media to an extent, but not like I have or even you and Hermione have, and I'm absolutely determined to keep the boys out of it. I mean James is barely walking. They don't need that."

It seemed as though once he had started talking, it flowed out of him. He did feel slightly better about talking to someone, even if Ron agreed with Ginny that he did needed to get over his dislike for the media.

Ron listened to Harry and just nodded occasionally. He didn't really think Creevey would backstab Harry and sell the pictures to the press or anything, but he also had half a mind to keep his mouth shut about it. He'd learned over the years, especially when dealing with Hermione, that some things would just get you a smack in the face. He'd been trying to avoid things like that for years now.

"Well, I offered up Rosie for some home pictures. Hermione's terrible with that camera thing, and don't even give it to me. I haven't even asked her about it yet though, figured it wasn't such a big deal." He shrugged and swirled his drink a bit. "You don't really think Creevey'll sell those pictures to the press though, do you? I mean.... he seems all right and all." Then again, Ron's judgment on people hadn't always been up to par.
