Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
[Who] Terry Boot and Emily Ackerly, with guest appearances by her pet-r-roos!
[Where] Emily's place.
[When] After discussing costume designs!
[What] Terry and Emily get together to figure out how to make their dream of a costume party come true!

When he apparated into the flat it was with an armful of items that sent him rocking off his balance. He had to lean back and jut his hips forward to keep himself from falling, but the act of re-balancing just didn't work! In short, Terry tumbled to his behind with chocolate frogs, a bag of old and rare buttons, a scroll of parchment and self-inking quill, and his wand all falling scattered around him. His bony arse felt the brunt of the pain but it was soon righted with a great push on his hands to get him back on his feet. "Ooh, my bum felt tha' one! Emiiiily??? My loooooove??"

He crouched low to pick up the items, eventually finding places for all of them in his long arms. "I brought chocolates, and buttons, and parchment for note taking!"

The first to greet Terry was not Emily, however. It was an excited and friendly, black Labrador with a silver collar and a dangling bone charm on which was written his name and his information. He immediately went up to Terry, barking happily and circling the man, tail wagging at full speed like a pendulum gone wild.

"Terry?!?! Is that you, my darling, lovely, prettyful thing you?" And then came Emily, her hair up in a messy bun letting thin, soft strands fall over her eyes. She was wearing a simple pink t-shirt and white shorts, barefoot of course. She had rug.

"HOW ARE YOU?!" It didn't occur to her that perhaps if she greeted him like she normally greeted people that once again the items he was holding in his arms could potentially hit the ground. She didn't think of this at all, because she instantly moved forward to take him into a big hug, giving him a kiss on the cheek with an 'mmmmmuah!' sound.

All the items he had gathered up had fallen freely to the floor as his arms opened wide to accept the hug. More than just accept, really, it was given back ten fold. Truth be told, Terry hadn't ever visited with Emily like this before. He had spoken with her at school and occasionally saw her out in the real world, but this was the first time he had ever decided to hang out with the lass. Hugging her only seemed natural as far as a greeting went! He lifted her into the air for she was as light as a feather in his arms, then he lowered her gracefully to the ground once more.

"Emily! I'm better now that we're together!" This statement was oddly true. Terry enjoyed all their journal conversations very much so, and as usual he enjoyed spoiling her with little things like the bag of rare buttons. "Here you are! Chocolate and buttons!"

He had stooped down again to gather his things, among them the buttons and chocolate, which he offered to her as he pocketed his wand. His eyes trailed to the lab. "Is this specksy??"

Emily giggled happily when she felt her feet leave the ground. It was almost like one of those cute, romantic comedies that always aired on those random channels on the telly. She held on tightly not out of fear of falling but simply because she was thrilled to have him there. Out of all the people in the world, including her family members, Terry was one of those people she adored the most.

"I'm so very glad we're together as well! It's been a while, and I've missed you, but not only that, you're in my flat! Please make yourself comfortable. I'll show you around!" And she was about to start pointing out random rooms, items and places in her flat when she caught the word 'buttons' fly out of his mouth. "REALLY? BUTTONS? I LOVE BUTTONS!"

All previous tour guide plans were put on hold as she went over to inspect these buttons. Golly, how buttons made her day. "And chocolate too? You really are a darling." And she leaned forward to give him a peck on the cheek.

"OH, I ALMOST FORGOT!" She cleared her throat daintily and pointed to her doggy. "Specks, this is Terry. Terry, this is Specksy!"

"Shake, specks?" Terry offered his hand and the dog cocked his head at the gesture before lifting his paw to fit into Terry's hand. A firm shake was given and then Terry went about lavishing the dog in loving with plenty of petting and scratching behind the ears. "He's lovely! I love animals. I used to be allergic to cats but I started taking potions everyday and now it's not much of a problem."

His cheek still felt hot from where she gave him a kiss and Terry was having to try very hard to ignore the feeling the kiss gave him. His heart pounded as if he had just ran a race or something equally as taxing. "Chocolate and buttons, yup. Nice place... EMILY." He stopped petting Specks and turned on his heel to face her.

"Emily, I am SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS PROJECT. I just have to say this idea is amazing and only you and I could ever pull it off without a problem!"

"Good boy, Specksy!" Emily was very glad that her puppy had manners. And well, he wasn't really a puppy. He was relatively young, but he was still big in size. He didn't look like a puppy at all, though Emily always called him her puppy. "I was never allergic to animals. My parents had a puppy when I was younger, so I grew used to them."

Her eyes lit up when he shouted her name, and then she smiled widely, giving a little hop in her spot with a few claps. She too was excited, and it was visibly noticeable. "I can't wait to get started with the planning and the baking and the guest list and the..... OH! LET'S START NOW!"

But again, she stopped herself, remembering she hadn't even shown him around her place. "Oh! Right! This is my living room with my super telly!" She waved him down the hall to the kitchen. "This is where I make all my yummy foods!" She took him down the hallway still. "And this is my bathroom! And my spare bedroom! And finally but not leastly, my bedroom!" She flicked on the lights with her wand and went over to sit at the edge of her bed. "You like?!"

Terry made all the "oohing" and "ahing" noises required when being shown a new thing, though his were all very sincere and made out of pure awe. She had such a great place that he was mildly jealous. "Bleh, I live atop the Quidditch shoppe.. it's major lame, Em. Not enough color. Yours is sooo much better." He sighed and stepped into her bedroom, shoving his hands into his pockets.

Now, entering a ladies bedroom was not beyond Terry, but feeling shy and somewhat intrusive for doing so was very much beyond him. He never felt that way before and was having a hard time feeling at ease with the idea of being alone with Emily in her room. He somehow felt like a complete letch. Still, if they were to have planning days like this he figured he would just get used to it and treat it like any other room. He ended up sitting on the bed beside her.

"Bouncy," he mumbled, "So. Okay, firstly, where should we have it??"

"Colour isn't a problem, love. I can help with colour. Just a few charms here and there, and the place will look livelier than Hogsmeade on Christmas!" She smiled at him, patting his hand gently and giving a little bounce herself on the bed. Having personal space was just something Emily didn't understand. She had essentially zero personal space, and she enjoyed hugs and cuddles from just about anyone.

"Oh! Well, I wouldn't mind having it here, that way I could bake and decorate and we could do it over a period of time, whereas if we rented somewhere, we'd have time constraints. And I could practice some decorating charms and transfigurations and such. OH! Unless you wanted to have it at your place. It'd be just as lovely."

It wasn't helping that she sat beside him, but didn't he invite such a thing by sitting where he sat? Terry wasn't the type of think to pace wildly, though. He was the type to sit down wherever and lazily dream out his plans. Like now, despite feeling somewhat strange sitting beside Emily on her bed, he stretched his lean body backward and put his hands behind his head. She had an awfully comfortable mattress!

"Your place would be dashing, I daresay. I know some spells to make a place bigger than it is but I haven't used them in a while. We can practice them first before we set things up and then.. yes, I rather like the idea of your place, love. Juuuliet," he sung cheerfully. "I wonder if I can get Zeke to go as Mercutio!"

And Emily, being the bit of a copycat that she was, decided that laying down in that instant would be just the perfect thing to do. She leaned down, resting her body down on her elbow with her hand supporting her head. She offered him a gentle, calm smile, though anyone who knew her could tell she was still bursting with energy on the inside.

"I'd love for it to be here. Specksy and I love parties and people and food and dancing and happiness. We're all for it!" She absently picked at a loose thread on her bed, desperately needing some way to expel all her energy on something. "And you'll be my Romeo, Terr? Because Zeke would be a thrilling Mercutio! And perhaps we could spend the night reenacting scenes? HOMIGOSH, I SO LOVE IT!"

"Oh, baby! I have that whole play memorized," he quipped, a catty grin spreading across his face. "That and Othello. Never did care for Hamlet, though. Listen, listen, listen!" Terry rolled over while he grabbed his wand from his jacket pocket. It touched each piercing on his lips and they each seemed to disappear without much of a problem. This made it easier for him to recite the words as sometimes the multiple piercings gave Terry a problem with fumbling over words. He then allowed the wand to glide down his jacket, where he transfigured the modern leather thing into that of a red, Elizabethan coat. The wand was placed on a side table and now Terry was looming over Emily, holding himself up with both arm.

"But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, and Juliet is the sun! Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon Who is already sick and pale with grief That thou her maid art far more fair than she. Be not her maid, since she is envious...."

Emily, being a grandiose specimen of the Transfiguration realm, peeled off her own wand, sliding it over her tank and jeans to reveal a puff, white, Elizabethian gown, complete with lace and frillies in all the right places and of course, a corset. Her face didn't need any make-up, for it was glowing of its own accord at his beautifully recited words, to which she simply replied,

"O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I'll no longer be a Capulet!" She smiled at this, almost blushed, because this was all so special and magical. Romeo and Juliet had been her favourite play ever since she was a little girl, and she always delivered the lines with grace and eloquence that was often times beyond the bubbly young lady.

He knew it was bad news to start all of this. To dote upon her, to meet with her, to lay on her bed and now to recite the world's sweetest words as if speaking to Juliet herself, as if he were truly her Romeo, it was bad news. It was one thing to know when to stop, it was another when he got caught up in the moment. Terry's eyes had softened considerably with all the seriousness in the world lacing his quotes. It matched that grace that poured out of her lips.

"...I have night's cloak to hide me from their eyes; And but thou love me, let them find me here. My life were better ended by their hate. Than death prorogued, wanting of thy love.." His long fingers danced down the curve of her cheek and played over the line of her gentle jaw. He was a breath away from kissing the most innocent girl he had ever known in his entire life. "I'd do it," he ended up whispering, "I'd do it but you'd hate me forever."

What was happening exactly? Was she really practically nose to nose with Terry Boot on her bed? Was she really and suddenly breathless to the point where she wasn't sure she'd ever breathe properly again or that she even wanted to? Was this really Shakespeare, his words, his feelings, his prose? Or was this just Terry being Terry?

"Dost thou love me? I know thou wilt say 'Ay.' And I will take thy word: yet if thou swear'st. Thou mayst prove false; at lovers' perjuries. If thou dost love, pronounce it faithfully. Or if thou think'st I am too quickly won, I'll frown and be perverse an say thee nay. So thou wilt woo; but else, not for the world." She reached up, gently brushing her fingertips over the ends of his hair and smiled. "I couldn't possibly hate you, love. Not now, not ever and most certainly never forever."

"I can hate myself though," he murmured. Oh, her fingers were cool against his hot cheeks. He didn't realize how red his cheek had gotten until he could feel the soft pads of her fingers. It only caused him to redden more, and Terry was unable to remember anymore Shakespere. He could only think of how lovely she felt beneath him, and how pretty her eyes looked when she peered up at him.

"I already do hate myself, though," was the argument he made for himself. It sounded stupid to be muttering to himself when he could obviously be kissing a pretty girl, but it was keeping him from taking advantage of Emily.

And Emily frowned. It was one of those earth-shattering moments when Emily's usual smile actually broke off into something that wasn't akin to her cheery disposition. Her fingers trailed the contour of his face, lining his cheek bones and then flitted around the top of his ears, where she tucked some of his hair back.

"Don't hate yourself, love. You're quite the dear. You've always been that way to me." What had they been talking about before? A party? What? That all seemed so far away and unimportant at the moment. Something was happening here, and she had no idea what it was.
