[Who] Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood
[Where] Cafe
[What] Catching Up
[When] Wednesday early afternoon
[Rating] N/A

Luna had arrived early for their proposed lunch or tea. Currently, with her stomach growling the way it was, she was thinking that lunch and tea would be the best idea. Still not having replaced her alarm, she'd almost been late to the Magazine, so she'd missed breakfast once again. Now it was just after noon and her belly was complaining of its lack of food. It only took a few moments for her to be seated at one of the outside tables, one with a lovely yellow umbrella to shield her from the watery sunlight. Closing her eyes, she leaned back in her seat, allowing the warmth from the sun to wash over her as she waited.

It was easy to spot the odd blonde even from a far off distance. Though perhaps Neville simply thought this because he'd known her for so long. He'd watched her for many years from across the Great Hall, stared at her at the Ravenclaw table. He was sure she was none the wiser to his stares. She was likely to tell him something about them had she noticed. That was something he liked about her; she didn't hold anything back.

Working very close to the hospital and Diagon Alley was a perk to Neville's job. Aside from doing what he loved, he was also able to migrate to Diagon whenever he grew hungry, and he could pop in to see his parents to ensure that everything was all right with them more regularly. In fact, he felt as if he knew the place much more now than he did when he was a child. He would only come here when he needed to buy books and robes. But nowadays, he'd come here two and three times a day.

"Afternoon, Lu," he greeted despite noticing she had her eyes closed. He had somehow grown accustomed to her oddities back when they were in school, and it was a familiarity that never seemed to go away.

Hey eyes opening at the sound of a voice that was both familiar and yet not, Luna smiled. "Hullo Neville." Sitting up straight, she watched as he approached. "Come sit down, I was enjoying the fantastic warmth of the sun. I've missed it in recent months." It was one of the few things she disliked about England, the fact that it was often so cold and grey.

"How are you?" She asked. "Honestly, not one of those horrid social nicety answers." Feeling the need to clarify, she tacked on the second sentance. People tended to soften how they were feeling, and what they were thinking. If only to make someone else feel better. But it almost never worked in a positive way, often it came back to bite the speaker on the rear. So why bother, in her opinion.

Luna hadn't seen Neville in far too long. In fact, she could hardly remember the last time they had met. Let alone planned a lunchtime chat, with pudding of course. One couldn't forget the pudding.

Neville did as was requested of him and took a seat across from her at the table. Despite not having seen her in a fair bit of time, this was not at all awkward to him. The atmosphere was familiar, and this was Luna after all, one of the few people he could truly feel comfortable around. "Tired," he replied honestly, "dropped three potion bottles today, and the geraniums grew to be two feet taller than me. What a mess, and it's only just lunch time."

He didn't mind being this honest with Luna. She'd seen him through the best of times and the worst of times, so there was really no need for him to hide his true feelings about how his day was going. Unfortunately, it was just one of those days. "How about you? How've you been?"

The waiter came to take their orders, Luna smiled at him pleasantly before giving her order. "Chocolate pudding and tea please. Followed by a cheese sandwich." The sandwiches looked good when she'd passed by a couple eating them earlier. Well, except that those had been meat, and she was a strict vegetarian.

She patted Neville's hand reassuringly. "Most people pay more for larger flowers." A smile crossed her face. "You could market them as exotics?" At his question, she tilted her head slightly to the side. "Frustrated by work, hopeful about love, nervous about moving and glad to see you."

"Oh, I'd market them all right, if they weren't flesh-eating and all." He grinned back at her before turning toward the waiter. "Tea as well, with a ham and swiss on rye please. And..." He shrugged. "Sure, let's give the pudding a whirl as well."

He sat back in his chair, now feeling relieved that he'd placed his order. Neville generally got a bit nervous before doing seemingly easy tasks, like placing his order or having to recite something. He'd nearly sweated himself to death during his interview for the position at the Greenhouse.

And once again, he was faced with someone who spoke just a touch faster than he could think. It wasn't her fault, mainly his. "What's got you frustrated at work, what love's got you hopeful this time, where are you moving off to and I'm glad to see you as well."

"Hmm," Luna nodded. "That would be rather problematic." She didn't think that disappearing customers would be of much use to the Greenhouse's bank balance. Mm...pudding, Luna did so love pudding.

The waiter hurried off to fill their order, and was back almost immediately. It was one of the best things about magical restaurants, the near instant gratification. Happily she picked up her spoon and took a bite out of the creamy pudding. Smiling as she kicked her feet happily at the taste.

Remembering to slow herself down, she paced herself when she spoke next. Interspercing her words with bites from her pudding. "My editor has turned down my article submissions for the last three weeks straight." Chocolatey goodness, yum. "I took Arty to a Healer, named Rolf. He made me dinner, I think I could be in love with him." Smooth texture, delicious. "I am finally moving out of Father's. It has been a long time in coming."

Finishing her pudding, she set her elbows on the table and leaned her chin into one. "What else is happening in your life Neville?"

"Quite," he agreed with a nod, smiling his thanks to the waiter before taking a hearty bite of his ham and swiss on rye. He'd been hungrier than he thought, because he was savouring his food to the point where he could almost hear strange things coming out of her mouth. "Did you just say in love with Arty's healer?"

What was so odd about that? Nothing any odder than the usual Luna madness. So why was Neville frowning at this? "Rolf.... Hmm...." He'd heard the name somewhere, hadn't he? Well, to hell with his miserable memory. Even so, perhaps if she'd said something like Scamander, then something would spark his memory. Even Neville couldn't forget the famous Newt Scamander. He'd practically grown up hearing all about the man and how great he was and all. How could he ever forget something like that?

He shrugged though, taking a sip of his tea. "My life is relatively calm and boring, at least when compared to yours." And he was glad for this. Luna deserved to have an interesting life. Him on the other hand? Well, he was far too modest to verbalize what he thought he deserved out of life.

Luna nodded, picking up her cheese sandwich to take a bite. Once she had chewed and swallowed, she spoke again. "Uh huh. Oh, this is a fantastic sandwich." She held out the diagonal cut piece towards him slightly. "Would you like to try?" Whoever created the sandwich was brilliant, although not better (she thought) than Rolf.

"Yes, he just opened up his office across the way from the Quibbler. Rolf Scamander." The tea was already sweetened the way she liked, which was half the fun of magical cafes. And made her smile. No nasty Cornophils making the tea bitter when she was not looking.

With a laugh, she wrinkled her nose slightly. "That's very much a non-answer Neville. I am sure your life is plenty interesting, perhaps you are just looking at it in a way that doesn't let you see that."

Neville leaned forward and took the sandwich in between two finger before taking a bite. "Mm, good. Do you want some of--" But he stopped himself, suddenly remembering she was a vegetarian. Good thing he was able to remember this time. Perhaps his memory was getting better.... or this was just some sort of freak accident. "Nevermind."

He sat back, feeling just a touch bit embarrassed, and then... "Ah! I have heard of him then." He nodded a bit, returning to staring down his sandwich. While her cheese sandwich was very good, he still preferred his sandwich a bit better. Perhaps he was just a boy and needed more sustenance from his meals or something. Maybe he was just hungrier is all.

"And I know. It's just..... I do the same things day in and day out. It's not very interesting at all when it happens every day. Then, I don't get to see you or Harry or Ron all that often either. They're all off with their families, and I've still just got Gran. Not that I'm complaining. I'm glad they're happy and all."
