Who : Megan Jones and [Terry Boot]
What : Potions Shopping
Where : Diagon Alley, the Apothecary
When : Thursday Afternoon
Status : Complete
Rating : PG for language

Exiting Flourish and Blotts, Megan made her way down Diagon Alley towards the Apothecary. The day was blustery but the sun was out and Megan enjoyed the cold wind on her cheeks. Humming quietly to herself, Megan stopped outside of the Quality Quidditch Supplies to browse. She may not have been one to have played the sport but she appreciated it just as much as the other students had. She looked in through the window at all the brooms she placed a hand and leaned in to see the prices. She wasn't very good at flying either and didn't own a broom...but sometimes it would be good to have one wouldn't it?

Oh what a silly thought Megan couldn't afford a broom. Most of her money went to rent and to her lively hood. Extras weren't really in her budget. Sighing she stood off from the window and headed down the way. She had to pick up some headache potions and a few other things that she needed for her medicine cabinet. Slipping in to the shop she browsed the aisles picking up a basket and placing a few in, here and there. She was too busy reading the side of a potion that claimed to make your skin smoother when somebody bumped in to her. Nearly dropping the bottle she gasped. "Oh! Sorry, about that, I shouldn't be standing in the way..." she said to the person.

Blustery Thursday was turning out to be a real bore. "Eff this," muttered Terry, staring moodily at the perfectly straightened shelves of Gleam Cream that were situated right across from the main check-out counter. "Eff this and eff Thursdays and eff whoever effing thought of making wind as horrible as this!"

There were no customers. None for a whole hour and he figured none for the remained of the afternoon. There were no backed up brooms to fix up, nothing needed cleaning, no stocking, no... why! Why, hello there! Terry's entire face lit up like he had been charmed by a Cheering Charm without notice. His shoulders lifted, his catlike grin uncurled across his face and those three loops pierced through his lips gave a twinkle when they caught the light of the lanterns lit overhead.

It was Megan Jones! Peeking into the window! Oh... and it was Megan Jones, moving away as if there wasn't anything in here for her. Bother! Terry couldn't stand going back to boring, blustery, no customer Thursday, so he made the impulsive decision to close shop for a quick break to visit someone (anyone!) for a bit of a cheer up sort of conversation.

He had exited the store just in time to see Megan entering an Apothecary, and within moments his long legs carried him in and through the aisles with a strange grace, making him look rather like he just gliding past the others. Unfortunately, his wide steps caused him to stop too late and he ended up running into Megan in a literal sense that made her gasp.

"Merlin's pants! Megan Jones! I thought I saw you peek into my store, and not even a hello??"

Megan smiled at Terry. She hadn't seen him in a while, even though she lived just above Madam Malkin's Robes, she rarely spent much time in Diagon unless it was for work. Then again Little Sprouts was on the other side of the long street and she didn't get the same crowd as the one that was here in the Apothecary. Not that, that bothered Megan. She was glad it was at the unbusy end, made for easier days sometimes. Especially when it seemed like everybody and their dog was out for breakfast.

She'd forgotten that Terry worked in the Broom shop. Mostly because she rarely went in there and really had no reason to either. "Sorry Terry, I forgot you worked there." She said carefully putting the bottle back on the shelf, a little embarrassed at the fact that she was even looking at it in the first place. She made sure the label was facing away from him.

"Had I remembered I would have popped in for a hello at least." She said facing him fully, having recovered from the bump. "How are you thought? It's been a while I suppose...well since you had your bird in the bathroom of the club." she said, rather amused. Terry was just...Terry she supposed.

Oh, that million dollar smile! It was contagious and had Terry grinning like an idiot within seconds. Of course, he was the type of person who was always caught grinning in some strange fashion, whether it be a catty grin or a toothy grin or just something wide and overly cheerful, he was grinning most of the time. Even when she admitted forgetting he worked at the shoppe he continued to grin.

The reason was not just because she was smiling either, it was certainly more than that. "I'm smashing. Say, listen.." now here came the reason, why he very excited to see her. "I heard Wayne went on that date, but he hasn't opened his big gob to tell me details.. you're Susan's close confidant.." he lowered his voice.

"Tell me all the dirty details! I've got to know! Whoa, is that smoothing creame? Merlin I need some of that..!" He glanced over her shoulder and grabbed the bottle she had been looking at, giving it a once over seriously.

Megan...was slightly overwhelmed by Terry. She wasn't used to people who were so...high strung? No that wasn't right. Somebody with just so much energy. Possibly why Emily Ackerly had always overwhelmed her when she was around in the commons. That wasn't to say that she didn't like people who were like that, she just never knew what to do when they were around. She could never match so much energy! Terry though, was nice. And she appreciated him for that. "Well we've been friends for ages is all. I don't know about confidant..." Megan said trailing off. She hadn't really spoken much to Susan in the last little while.

"She hasn't said much, then we haven't really talked lately. I've been so busy with work and she's been the same it's hard. She mentioned it went well though, mind you well can be construed as many things..." She said thinking about it. "There was something said about curlers in her hair." Megan mused. Susan...oh Susan. "This is Susan we're talking about here...I don't think there's much dirty to her."

"Oh," he frowned. He was so hoping for more gossip! "I'm sure Laura will give me more details. Miss Madley always manages to gather the most atrocious details of the most interesting of events. I'm not sure how she manages though.. she ought to be a gossip columnist in Witch Weekly." Terry was rambling, no doubt, but that was usually how he spoke: quickly and about anything and everything.

"So. Tell me. What is my little singing bee doing here? Shopping for beauty creames? You know you don't need any!" Ever the charmer, he laid his compliments on thick with a more cheeky grin. "I, on the other hand, am seriously needing this creame and some more lacewing flies." His bright blues searched over the products on the shelves they were near, hoping he'd find something to make his hair a bit more shiny than it had been as of late. Too many beauty charms had been used, that would be Laura Madley's explanation.

"You know, I don't think there will be any dirty gossip about them two. It is Susan, you're right.. and it's Wayne and he's a right ponce. He doesn't know anything about girls."

Megan didn't mind his rambling mostly as she was seemingly able to keep up at this point. That could change though if she wasn't quick. She usually had to be working at the cafe, but then again this wasn't just a customer and rather somebody she had known for a very long time. Maybe not well but enough.

"Just stocking up on a few essentials. And like hell I don't. I'm getting on there in years you know Terry." She teased a bit, feeling a little less self conscious now that he was going on about it. Lifting a bottle of potion that claimed to make you skinner she held it up to him to see, "I may not need the skin smoothing cream but I need this." she said with a laugh. She didn't actually believe that. She liked her looks for the most part and most of the time. Today she wasn't just feeling exceptionally comfortable in her skin. It was just a day.

"Not with Susan. I'm sure she about fainted that first time he kissed her when they were hanging out that day. Susan's sweet but not really one to be all that adventurous." She shrugged. "And Wayne's a good guy, I've always liked him." Megan took the chance of him speaking about his appearance earlier to gaze at him for a few moments. She'd never really looked at Terry, considering when she ran in to him it was usually such a whirlwind. She'd never noticed how...periced he was. She found herself reaching up to almost touch one of his lip rings before managing to pull herself together and pull her hand away. "Do those ever catch on girls you...er you snog?" She managed to save that question from being too pervy...she couldn't help it, she was curious.

"We all are, love. Look it," and just to prove that to be true, he placed his index finger under his left eye and pulled down on his skin. "Saggy." Then he ran his fingers along his jowel area where he had a few lines along side where his dimples. "Laugh lines," Terry pointed out. "It's horrible, I'm getting all kinds of wrinkly. Like a ruddy- Megan Jones! You're insane. You've got curves and something for us boys to hold on to, you wouldn't want to be a skinny bitch. You can see all of their bones, it's disgusting. I wish I had more muscle, but it's nearly impossible for me to get any."

Terry smiled pleasantly as she spoke of Susan and Wayne, though he was actually looking for something to keep his skin more taught and wrinkle free. He had hardly noticed when she about touched his lip until she said something. "Huh? Oh.. want to find out?" Sure, it was a cheeky comment, but he sort of didn't care. He meant it. Terry never did care who he kissed. A kiss was nothing to him.

Megan laughed at his explanation of his signs of aging. And then laughed again when he spoke about her curves. "I know...I'm actually quite fine with how I look, I seem to get by anyway. And it's just one of those days you know?" she said with a shrug. It really was just one of those days and Megan would live through it. Probably with a pint of the ice cream shop down the way's best mint chocolate frog ice cream.

She entertained the idea of trying to kiss him and see what it would be like but she then shook her head. "I probably shouldn't. That'd just be...awkward I'm sure, considering." She finished. She wasn't so sure that kissing Terry would be a good idea, as curious about the metal in his mouth as she was. She'd never been around anybody with so much....metal in their body.

"A lot of blokes are fine with how you look," he chuckled, then sighed. "I have those days. I end up with blue hair and new piercings. It's how I cope, after about fifteen sugar quills."

Without much warning, Terry kissed her. It wasn't a romantic kiss, it lacked all the sparks and fireworks that good kisses came with, but it was a kiss that was a surprise and that was a type of kiss that Terry was good at. It wasn't the first time that he went from zero to sixty with his lips on an unsuspecting girl!

It lasted a total of five seconds before he pulled away and wiggled his eyebrows. "Feel weird to ya?"

"Well I suppose we all have our ways of dealing with off days, don't we?" She said with a laugh. "Self deprecation is one of mine, but only when I'm not really feeling down about myself." She didn't really get much of a chance to finish that thought though, as she found her lips being invaded by his.

Megan managed to make a small noise in protest before it had ended. Five seconds though could sometimes feel like a life time when you weren't expecting something. She blinked at him. "A little. Then again I don't generally get kiss attacked on a regular basis. I don't have much for comparison." She said with a small laugh. "Then again do you go around kissing girls that haven't invited you to do so often? You seem semi pro at it." She teased a little.

"Mmm... not often enough. I kiss only the ones that probably won't slap me upside the noggin. Speaking of," he trailed off while glancing over her shoulder toward the front counter. A man was being spoken to by his boss, obviously nothing good coming of the encounter and probably due to the man's transgressions. It only reminded Terry of how he up and left the shoppe in the first place.

"Speaking of getting hit upside the noggin, I ought to be making like a tree.. and leaving. I left the shoppe and I'm the only one running it!" He gave a sharp, loud laugh and winked. "Till next we meet and snog, Megan Jones!" Off he went, putting back the creames and making a made dash for the shoppe. There were customers already lined up outside the doors!
