Oliver was really excited. It was the first Valentine's Day he's ever spent with someone he cared for and more than that, he was spending it with Charlie who was his boyfriend (!). Firstly, Oliver was honestly quite impressed that they had managed to make it to Valentine's Day with no major hiccups. There had been a few awkward conversations but none of them (yet) had ended with Charlie deciding he didn't want to spend time with Oliver, so that was really good. Secondly, Oliver was so incredibly happy. Like things had made Oliver happy before. Winning the house cup had been fantastic, making the national team had been amazing, all of those things were happiness inducing but this? Well, there was something about the way Charlie made Oliver's stomach jump that Oliver honestly couldn't recall Quidditch ever doing. Not that he didn't love Quidditch! He did! But maybe slightly differently from the way he felt about Charlie.
As per their agreement, Oliver had apparated to Charlie's to pick him up for their date, being firstly greeted by an over-excited Fizz (for whom Oliver had brought a bowl of edible flowers because he loved her too, so it felt right to get her something for Valentine's). And then Charlie had appeared and for a moment Oliver had lost the ability to breathe. Charlie looked stunning and whilst Oliver had seen him in a suit before, he had never been allowed to lean in and kiss Charlie before. Hadn't been allowed to say just how lovely Charlie looked. This had not been the first time Oliver had to resist to undress Charlie from the said suit right there and then, though. Oliver had had to readjust his own suit before grinning a bit madly at Charlie as he offered to side-apparate them to the restaurant.
The restaurant was busy, which pleased Oliver greatly. He knew how worried Theseus had been about the whole thing but it looked great, people were chatting and eating and everyone looked happy. Oliver spotted Celia as him and Charlie were ushered to their table and honestly had to bite his tongue not to ask if his sister wanted to join them. He had already offered and Celia had said 'no'. It wasn't like he desperately wanted his baby sister to join him and Charlie at dinner, but he felt bad that she was eating on her own, even if he knew the food would be amazing. Besides, perhaps it wasn't the best idea to make Celia a third wheel on a date with someone who had beat her at Quidditch the day before. So instead, Oliver had sort of waved at his sister and glanced worriedly, but she didn't actually look sad so that had to be okay?
Once they were finally seated, menus handed to them and wine offered, Oliver smiled at Charlie. "Happy Valetine's Day," he said softly across the table. There was so much warmth in Oliver he wasn't sure he'd be able to contain it.
