The training for the national team was slowly killing Oliver, one muscle at a time, he was sure. It wasn't that he didn't like training, it was just that the Scottish trainer seemed to strongly believe in the mantra of 'no pain, no gain'. Oliver was pretty sure that just basing on that, he was gaining a lot. Almost every evening, the most Oliver could manage was to strip, shower and sleep. He knew he wasn't being a fantastic company to Charlie, but more so than that, Oliver was also becoming rather aware that he wasn't a fantastic company for anyone. Mostly because no one saw him.
Which was one of the reasons Oliver had ended up going out for drinks with Asher on Sunday evening. Sundays Oliver had off, thank fuck. Which meant that he was actually awake and alert enough to hold a conversation, even if almost everywhere in his did ache. Oliver and Asher were friends, at least Oliver thought they were. They'd known each other for years throughout the league and like with a lot of the other friends Oliver had within Quidditch, Oliver had had sex with Asher. This wasn't really an issue, not to Oliver, and he had never presumed it was to Asher either. If anything, Oliver sometimes thought that having had sex with half the league made him much closer in his friendships with them. There was a logic in there somewhere, or at least something Oliver would consider a logic.
"So does the English trainer also ride you so hard you can barely have a conversation after training?" Oliver asked bringing Asher another alcohol-free drink from the bar along with the pint of beer Oliver had for himself. He sat down across from the other man with a small shake of his head. "I swear some days I get off a broom and forget how one is meant to actually walk," Oliver added almost as a joke, except it wasn't.
