A/N: Obviously, for Red. Inspired by blpaintchart’s word: okapi
Severus huffed as he strode purposefully down the winding path toward Hagrid’s hut. Lupin had kept him waiting for ten minutes. Ten very long minutes in which, he found himself fidgeting. He did not fidget! Well, perhaps he did, but he was not happy about it. Severus rounded the corner of the too tall hut, and stopped abruptly in his tracks.
Lupin was talking to an animal, a very strange looking animal. Severus tilted his head to the left and then to the right, it did not help the picture. He called out, “That’s obscene.”
Remus turned. “Obscene?”
“Quite. How did they?” He cocked his head to one side again. “I can not imagine that it is even anatomically possible.”
Remus chuckled. “Severus, what are you on about?”
“A zebra and a giraffe, really Lupin. It should be obvious even to a thick Gryffindor such as yourself.”
Realization dawned on Remus face. “Severus, this isn’t a cross between a zebra and a giraffe it’s an okapi. So, I’m certain they don’t have any problems copulating. I’d be happy to demonstrate how I think a zebra and a giraffe might do it.” Remus waggled his eyebrows. “I will need a volunteer from the audience.”
Slightly exasperated, Severus breathed. “Lupin.”
“There’s a lovely giant pumpkin I could drape you over.”
“Lupin.” Severus warned.
“Sorry, love.” Remus paused. “What did Poppy have to say?”
“That we crossed a werewolf with a Wizard one too many times, and we are not certain what that will produce.”
Remus’ eyes became as big as saucers.
Severus continued. “In approximately thirty days or seven and one half months, we will know what that union produced, either cubs or an infant.”
Remus stumbled all over the pumpkins and the long grasses as he headed toward Severus. When he reached him Remus placed a warm hand to the cool cheek. “Are you alright?”
Severus nodded slowly. “Quite stunned, but I am fine.”
“Can I get you anything?” Remus asked anxiously.
Severus smirked. “Yes. That demonstration you promised sounds quite interesting, but I’d prefer to be indoors away from the okapi dung.”
Remus’ grin became wicked. “I’d be more than happy to carry you back up that hill with you facing me, legs wrapped around my waist, trousers and pants pulled down just so…”
“Promises, promises.”
Remus laughed. “You’re right, Severus. My legs would give way in the throws of passion, and we would end up in a tangled pile in the grass, arses and cocks hanging out.”
Severus shook his head. Remus took Severus’ hand, and they started up the path.
“Severus, did Poppy explain how this happened?”
“Yes, she did and it was quite unsatisfactory. Her terminology was not at all scientific.”
“Oh?”
“She said ‘just lucky, I guess’.”
“Ah.” Remus’ hand tightened on Severus’ and he pulled him in for a kiss. “I think she’s right, quite lucky indeed.”
